After Killing Tesla Model Y SR, Musk Says New Normal Range Is 300 Miles

I think we have to also face the reality that some people will always find a "problem" with electric cars. If it isn't the range, it is the battery lifespan. If it is not battery lifespan, it is they are too quiet. Or too heavy. Or something else. Those same people would have said a century...

After Killing Tesla Model Y SR, Musk Says New Normal Range Is 300 Miles

Would be nice, but I personally feel that to be unlikely. If anything, I would expect more announcements in the longevity department and some Million Mile batteries announced, which they have been working on for awhile and some announcements trickled out over time. So, my bet would be on...

After Killing Tesla Model Y SR, Musk Says New Normal Range Is 300 Miles

Don't see how that would be possible. The Model 3 available battery room for the 2170 cells is already maxed out in the Model and Model Y. You are not going to get a sudden 20% increase in range or battery capacity with existing cells, so 400 or 500 miles are out of the question. If anything...

After Killing Tesla Model Y SR, Musk Says New Normal Range Is 300 Miles

Exactly. People are projecting those choices on all the "other" people beside themselves that want those cheap and reliable cars. I guess you got to group those people with all the people who are lamenting the lack of tuning knobs on modern radio's. How many people don't know what stations...

After Killing Tesla Model Y SR, Musk Says New Normal Range Is 300 Miles

That brings up another issue I have noticed. Most ICE cars typically only have a range of around 300 to 350 miles with a full tank of gas. I remember renting a Ford Escape while I was on a hurricane response team that was sent to get NY/NJ up and running after Sandy. I wound up staying in PA...

After Killing Tesla Model Y SR, Musk Says New Normal Range Is 300 Miles

I would qualify what Musk said, he is saying people like the range reserves for cold climates. You can in extreme colds lose as much as 40% of battery range because the range is affected by the cold and the heater uses a lot of energy. The longer range is also desired in the USA because people...

After Killing Tesla Model Y SR, Musk Says New Normal Range Is 300 Miles

But, I have yet to see any evidence of that being the case. People keep saying, just give me a plain and affordable car and it will sell like crazy. However, in the real world, cars are getting more expensive because people keep buying them fully loaded, and dealers keep reporting that they...

Quick Q. Will my Tesla Wall Charger work on other cars?

Yeah, we use single phase, but we use two hot wires here, each 120V, vs in Europe it is a single Hot 230V and a single Neutral. So, although we both use 230V or 240V, the implementation is slightly different, besides Europe being 50Hz and USA 60Hz.

Can SC tell me what services have been pefromed on my 2015 model S?

I asked about my service history in 2016 as I bought it in 2016, and they said they couldn't release it. There are however certain hints as the newer components have different revision numbers. But you probably won't have a complete picture without the service history. It would make sense...

Quick Q. Will my Tesla Wall Charger work on other cars?

Hmm.. didn't see that listed in any of the manuals. I know in the USA, all the chargers including Tesla follow the SAE J1772 protocols, so any charger can basically charge any car. So, Tesla has an adapter and you can adapt a Tesla HPWC to charge pretty much any EV over here. I know that...

Quick Q. Will my Tesla Wall Charger work on other cars?

I can't find a reference to this DIP switch anywhere. Here is the manual for the UK version and the only dip switches the manual references are for grounding purposes, along with a rotary switch for current...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

For what it's worth, the intermittent unlock issue on the Model 3 appears to be an Iphone issue. It is hit or miss. My sister in law has a Model 3 and had similar issues with her Iphone. My brothers Samsung Galaxy Android phone would instantly unlock the car, every single time, no issues...

Can SC tell me what services have been pefromed on my 2015 model S?

They wouldn't tell me the service history for my 2014 either. But, as David mentioned, a way around it is to take it in for service and have them recommend which services are needed. I have had mine serviced since I bought it in 2016, but besides the desiccant bag for the A/C and batteries for...

Blog Audi Will Price Electric SUV at $45,000

Several interesting points in that article. First of all, the warranty of the Q4 is rather head scratching... Limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles Powertrain warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles Electric components are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles Complimentary...

Blog Audi Will Price Electric SUV at $45,000

Everything Audi and MB has offered so far has been hovering somewhere north of 200 miles of range. Lets wait and see if this thing will actually be something comparable to what Tesla offers, or if this is yet another E-Tron, EQC and I-Pace Tesla killer selling in the double digits every month...
