Selfie Stick To the Rescue!! "Reaching" a Solution

Or the benefit of driving clear under those pesky barriers. Er or so I've seen, probably.

Seen in the logs: error codes 1115 and 1116. What are they?

1115: DMC FW: Motor Temp Sensor 2 warning 1116: DMC FW: Motor Temp Sensors Differ warning Courtesy of the Tesla Tattler 'decode' command which can decode all Roadster errors and warnings.

    OVMS Cooldown Alternating 70A/13A. Huh?!?!

FYI Tattler was updated when we learned that you don't need to add cycles to the charging contactors with stop/start charge. The algorithm is start charging in range mode (only mode where battery cooling occurs normally) limit 13A (minimum allowable current for minimal power consumption) then...

Now Shipping: Custom Tesla Roadster 2-Piece Slotted Rotors

Re-gearing? trade top speed for acceleration

Would like to start a discussion about the feasibility and possible trade offs if we were to change the gearing (final drive) on the Roadster. I still love my 2010 2.0 Sport but am ready for more acceleration! As it is I have my Tattler set to automatically select Performance mode when driving -...

Driving (not charging) in Range Mode + 24-hour 270 mile Road Trip Review

I've been doing something similar with Tattler V2 for some time now, in a manner that lets me just plug in and walk away. Here are the typical settings; charge mode range charge target 60 charge limit 33 cool 25 per 1: daily home 0545 <charge target 180. charge start> My car is set to charge...

Roadster Owner Based Study of Battery Pack Capacity Over Time

FYI Here is some anon data from weekly Tattler v2 service posts; Car#1 Odometer 31,649mi CAC=150.60 Car#2 Odometer 27,637mi CAC=150.18 Car#3 Odometer 37,094mi CAC=147.02 You can manually get the cac value with, not surprisingly, the 'cac' command. Perhaps more useful: 'odo. cac' to get...

Coolant System Problem ID: 1465 - I cannot charge anymore

Not sure this will help, but from the Tattler alert database; 1465, "HVAC: Low current pump fault" You might wonder why the HVAC system might stop charging, but it's also used to cool the battery during charging (esp. in Range mode). I dont hold out much hope here, but try charging in...

What is the target temp for the battery if the car is plugged in?

You can go down to 13A in range mode to get cooling cycles and minimal energy use while giving more time before range mode charges the battery more than you might wish. Note, you must be on a 200V+ circuit - unfortunately cooling does not occur on 110V (unless the battery is >40C) The car...

    OVMS Installation

Hi Folks, From the Tattler's comprehensive database of alerts; 934, "DMC FW: Line OverCurrent Peak fault" 1174, "Fasten Seatbelt" 1463, "HVAC: Compressor OverTemp" You might want to talk to your ranger/local service office about those other than "fasten seatbelt".

Announcement: Tattler v2 "set and forget" release now available Hi Folks, I'd like to announce a firmware update for users of the Tesla Tattler. Several of the new features in the release support the theme of "set and forget", so that where ever you go in your Roadster you can simply plug it...

Changing Drive Mode On The Fly?

I have an experimental feature in my Tattler that puts the car in performance mode automatically, immediately after start. Now I drive around in performance mode all the time. Nice to have the extra oomf by just putting putting the foot down. It's come in handy many times ;-)
