Unfortunately, there's no rotary dial to set the wall connector into slave mode so it appears that Gen 3 will not work with this project. I hope there will still be a way to order the Gen 2 unit somehow...

I'm on the Big Island. There's no indication that any Super Charger station is under consideration. Being a smaller market, it may not be on their radar. They don't do Tesla Energy products here either, other than Powerwalls through authorized resellers.
