    New 20" Wheels

I have a very similar setup on my P85D and really like it. I had the 21 inch staggered turbines on my P85+ and went with the 10.5 x 20's in the rear and 9 x 20's in the front on the P85D. Running 275/40 in the rear and 245/40 in the front. The slight diameter difference has been a non issue and...

    Wet Okole Seat Covers

SMS, My P85D also has tan interior, Next Gen seats. Fortunately, I am starting work tomorrow about 2 miles from the Wet Okole facility in Costa Mesa. Just curious how good the number 17 Tan matches the Tesla Tan leather? BTW, I think they look pretty good!

    Are Cyclone wheels directional?

It is more an issue of aesthetics than function. A number of rim manufactures actually invest in multiple molds so that the left and right sides are "directionaly" correct. Look at Vossen CVT rims for example. Given the volume of turbines Tesla ships, it still surprises me that they only produce...

Talk me out of ordering a set of 21" Turbine Wheels for my P85D

First, thanks for the kinds words. I am really pleased with the look and have been stopped numerous times by people asking me about the wheels. Considered a number of different size options. While I liked the 265/35's on the rear of my P85+, the ride was pretty harsh given the chewed up roads...

Talk me out of ordering a set of 21" Turbine Wheels for my P85D

Staggered Vossen CVT's 20x10.5 in the rear with a 5mm spacer and 20x9 in the front. $4,200 all in with the tires and I got to keep my 19 inch stock wheels. I believe they are the perfect compromise after having had staggered 21 inch turbines on my P85+. Unlike Tesla, Vossen invested in 4 molds...

My car needs to go home to CA - How?

I just got a quote of $2000 to move my P85D from San Francisco to Boston in an enclosed container. I would not move the car cross country in an exposed transport but you may be willing to do so in which case it will probably save about $500. If you are moving and the van line is willing and you...

Turbine wheels now mandatory with P85D - intentional change or design studio glitch?

It is really a shame if they continue to force the 21" option. The turbines are not worth the uplift charge compared to a large number of aftermarket rims that are lighter and less expensive, and IMHO, look just as good or better. I ordered my P85D with the 19" wheels and replaced them...

    Autopilot "in three months"

Agree with every point you make 100%....and I am mildly irritated, but still love the car. - - - Updated - - - After two years of listening to Elon, I have decided he is a very bad source for dates and features. Being in the bay area, their are better sources that tend to be more accurate.

Group Buy for FOBO Tire Plus - $30 or $50 off, plus free express shipping ($20 value)

One word of caution....I would love to run these but the stems on my aftermarket rims are on the inside of the rim and clear the calipers by about 1/4 inch. I am pretty sure that the sensors would hit the calipers as the wheels rotated.

    Autopilot "in three months"

Anyone purchasing the car for autopilot features is likely to be very disappointed for quite some time. Tesla's implementation of blind spot monitoring is abysmal as has been discussed at length and while self parking has been available in numerous other cars for years, Tesla does not have it...

    Glossy Yellow Wrap Completed

Steve, Vincent at OmegaWerks in Pleasanton does PPF, wraps and tinting. He has done PPF on both of my Tesla's and is considered one of the best in the area. He is typically backed up about a month in advance but worth the wait. One thing to note....wraps are vinyl and while they change the color...

    Clear Coat Problem

Absolutely the best way to dry the car and prevent any kind of deposits. The blower gets most of the water off so you are making minimal contact with the finish using the microfiber towels. Costco sells them in bags for a reasonable price. After using a blower you will probably only need two...

    Clear Coat Problem

Depending on how hard the water is where you live, it is possible that the finish is etched. Calcium and Magnesium will not only deposit on the finish, they will etch it. They also do not go back into solution once the water dries on your finish when you wet it again. If that is the case it is...

Anybody worn out their brake pads?

It raises a rather interesting question. I suspect most of us sell, scrap or get rid of our ICE vehicles when the engine ultimately is no longer worth servicing or we just want something new. What is going to be the point of failure in a Model S that would cause an owner to purchase a new...
