    Post-6/2020 Model 3 USB ports

Mystery solved. Yes, there is now, at least on some "3's," a built-in data-stick. There are 2 USB-C ports inside the foward console, and 2 USB-A(?) ports (perhaps power-only) behind the console, for rear seat passengers. From: Tesla starts delivering cars with TeslaCam/Sentry Mode storage...

    Post-6/2020 Model 3 USB ports

A friend bought a new Model 3, on 12/30/2020, and I'm puzzled as to where the USB ports are located. The Dashcam icon shows a red dot, but we have not, ourselves, put in a datastick. An aftermarket firm's photos seems to show 2 USB-A sockets and a 12V receptacle, for cars built after June...

Elon Musk Confirms Tesla Full Self-Driving Subscriptions Coming Early 2021

Yes, it's a lot of money, but we don't regret paying for in, for our 2017 "3," or even its less-performing version in our 2014 "S." If price is a serious factor, then a Tesla without FSD is still wonderful, but with FSD, fabulous!

Things to make cabin quieter - in order of easiest to hardest?

A "Next Door" neighbor reported that she had a puncture in her new "Y" and that a local tire shop couldn't repair it (through the inside) because of "foam," possibly introduced for noise suppression or to add run-flat capability. Does anyone know what models/configurations have this "foam?"...

    Detector for lost keys fobs?

After mislaying my key fob, an inquiry found a U-tube post showing how a Tesla car could identify that its keyfob was nearby suggested to me the following: If a Tesla car could recognize the proximity of an authorized key, couldn't a portable device that could identify the presence of a specific...

    Strut noise

Roger Bohl <[email protected]> 1:01 PM (4 minutes ago) For several weeks, I had been detecting a maddening, tiny "clicking" noise seemingly emanating from somewhere around the passenger seat of our "3". Noticeable when driving slowly, when the car "rolled" a bit -- side-side. I thought it...

    Strange window behavior

It occurred to me to read the manual, but I couldn't imagine that the behavior would be cited. Later: I found the part of the manual and executed the instructions many times but, alas, the problem continues -- with either driver or passenger controls. As the manual says, "contact Tesla." At...

    Strange window behavior

May be new "feature"??? A couple of days ago, after getting into my sun-heated car, I rolled down the front windows to circulate outside air quickly. Then, when I went to close them, the passenger window moved to the top and immediately rolled down!!??? I found that, after I stopped the car...

Wipers running when no rain present

Has happened to me, often. The issue seems to be a collection of moisture, overnight, in the area where the sensor is located. Solution: change the wiper mode from "Auto" to "Off". How to do this is not obvious: Press the wiper icon to bring up the wiper controls screen. Then press the wiper...

Powerwall installation - better inside or outside

Northern CA, 1000' elevation, near Santa Rosa. Due to property configuration, it appears that we will have a free-standing 2-powerwall installation far from any building. From what I see, the most economical configuration would be a pair of 4" x 6" posts, about 3' apart, with a 4' x 4' 1"...

    "Stop" driving mode coming?

One of the best features of our '3" is the recently-made-available "Stop" mode, whereby the brake pedal is rarely used. It is always a shock when I drive our "S" and find so much less regenerative braking and have to use the brake pedal. It seems to me that the feature could be retrofitted to...

    ABC News audio irregularity

    ABC News audio irregularity

One of my usual audio choices is ABC news. However, for some time it has been exhibiting strange behavior, and I don't know whether it is the station or the car: Each piece is a 3-minute segment. But each segment repeats, just once, then advances to the next segment. Does your "3" exhibit...

Front Passenger Safety Restraint System Fault

Had my appointment with a mobile tech, today. Took ten minutes. Installed something under the seat, presumably to prevent spurious signals. Have my fingers crossed. While here, checked tire pressures -- "California Mandate" ???

    2019.36.1: Stopping Mode

Love the new "Hold" mode. Evidently only on our "3", perhaps sadly not on our 2014 "S". On one occasion, on a steep San Francisco hill, was late to bring the "3" to a full stop. Will try again, lifting the foot earlier. Is this one more step on the road (no pun) to recognizing and acting...
