Thinking of a Model Y after 5 years with Model 3

Given the FSD transfer period and the $7500 tax credit, I'm thinking of trading in my 2018 LR model 3 for a new model Y LR. I drove a Y and it seems to be fine, so I'm not concerned about that, but I am a bit concerned about range. In the 5 years of owning my 3, it's been very efficient. Even...

    Problem updating to 2020.36.11

I have 2020.36.10. UI/app tell me that 36.11 is available and has been downloaded. I try to "Install Now" and it counts down for the 2 minutes, reaches 0, and then says "Update scheduled for <time when I pressed the button>". I've tried this a few times. I also tried future-scheduling it...

Supercharging sessions (charges) not showing up on account / car

I got my car in May 2018 and had a credit card setup on my account. From then until September 2019 any time I supercharged, it'd appear on the display and on the account and would charge me. In October, the card that was on my account was replaced with a new one (someone had charged some stuff...

    Tesla call options

While this is a generalization, I'd expect all in the money options to be sold at par value at the time of acquisition. Assuming a $420 price, then your $355 options would be worth $65.

    Playlists on USB?

Tesla should open source the media control stuff and allow people to submit pull requests. Seems like a non-critical system that the public could help to improve.

Streaming audio via bluetooth, but not with a phone?

I don't have a direct answer, but broadly Bluetooth works on a services methodology. A device advertises it has "XYZ" services available. I'm not 100% sure what the streaming audio service is, but if another device advertises the same services a phone does I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm...

Tip for USB key + charging

As you probably already know, the front USB ports are the only one that work with a USB key for music. This "uses up" one of them as far as charging goes. I experimented and found that this cable solves the issue...

    Windshield Washer

The sprayers are in the arms somewhere rather than on a hood as they traditionally are on other cars. They definitely spray differently than any other car I've owned. I've found them to be fine at low speeds, but at highway speeds despite the lack of "spray", they manage to somehow get fluid on...

    Notifications on Android

I've gone from Durham to Greensboro and back. Didn't need to supercharge technically speaking, but did so anyway just to try it. Headed out to Wilmington though shortly. Will be the first "real trip" in this car. I don't think the hotel we're at has HPWC, but there's a supercharger near by.

    Notifications on Android

Have you disabled power savings for the app? I did that immediately for phone key purposes, but it could contribute to notifications as well. FYI, I have a Pixel 2 as does my wife and notifications work fine.

Auto high beams need some work

Push the stalk as if you were going to turn them on. It'll end up in auto mode at that point.

FSD features to start rolling out in August...

Like it or not, Tesla will start rolling features out that will be gated to FSD. Some people will argue that these features are really EAP and complain about it. This is part of the reason I opted for FSD at the start.

RWD wheel spin on hard launch

I get a little chirp on a WoT from a standstill on the 18" Michelin tires, but not much. I will say if you take it into a parking lot and throw it into a really hard turn it's pretty amazing how glued it stays. You can really feel the low center of gravity due to battery weight.

Auto high beams need some work

Just curious as to other people's experience with auto high beams in the 3. Driving home last night on a highway the auto high beams were being what I'd describe as overly aggressive. A car would be coming the other direction and they'd turn off, but then they'd flip back on for 2 or 3 seconds...

Constant seat belt ding ding ding ding...

Not a silly question at all. No weight on anything else, nor did any of the seat belt indicators show up on the display. Also to be clear, the ding continued even after the car was locked (mirrors folded in) and I was outside the car.
