Going solar is the best thing I did after Model 3

I had to use their live chat and email system. Once you get an email response you just have to be super logical. I had to tell Tesla to use their optical imaging sensors - aka eyeballs - and read the documents. They may farm work out to 3rd parties who have no clue what’s going on.

Going solar is the best thing I did after Model 3

I live in San Diego and we have the most ridiculous electricity/gas prices in the nation. Before solar I spent my home life thinking about power by not running or delaying the dishwasher, laundry, AC, etc. Power bills could easily be in the 3-400s just running AC. Not that I couldn’t afford it...

I’m still on 2021.4.18 and I have FSD. Should I update?

bumping to see if FSD is much improved that it's worth leaving my 2021 version that has no eye tracking and predictable highway FSD?!

Analyzing and improving heat pump energy usage

Probably the best short-term solution. Like boosting the AC in super-off or off-peak further than you would normally go to carry the house forward.

Anyone ever motorized their Tesla panels to move?

Sure, but with NEM 3.0 people may desire getting more out of the panels they have and can’t add more panels lest they lose their NEM 2.0.

Anyone ever motorized their Tesla panels to move?

I’m curious, has anyone ever built a custom mount setup that allows their panes to elevate, tilt, or rotate after they’ve been installed? Think some custom lifters that would allow an east facing panel to elevate and face west as the day progresses. I have panels mounted west, east, and south...

    Solar / Powerwall Desktop Display

    Cool project

    Hot or Not?

It’s a new thread to see if your solar is up to par! This pic is a San Diego perfect Sunday March 26 on a 7.2kw system. I have no idea if it’s good or bad but my friend says it’s solid!

Proper arbitrage California NEM 2.0? (SDGE)

Good to know. I may finally have a good enough reason to update my Tesla from an April 2021 firmware because the older software doesn't support mobile app adjustment for amps, and therefore chargeHQ doesn't either! So, to charge my car by solar and avoid NBCs I have to manually adjust the amps...

Proper arbitrage California NEM 2.0? (SDGE)

If I’m expected to over produce power, and given that wholesale rates are close or over NBCs is the adage of always better to consume what I produce out the window? Should I charge my Tesla overnight at super off peak even with the NBCs since I expect I’ll be getting a check from SDGE next year...

    CPUC NEM 3.0 discussion

You shouldn't be on EV-TOU5 if you have solar, you should be on EV-TOU2. That being said, since 2018 SDGE has increased the spread from super off peak to peak on EV-TOU2 from 2.35x to 2.92x. The spread for EV-TOU5 is relatively stable fluctuating back and forth between 5.7x in 2018 to 6.4x in...

How long between inspection and PTO? [various areas]

San Diego, installed on a Friday then inspection next Friday, SDGE only needed a pic of meter with placard today and achieved PTO today. So, less than two weeks from install to live.

Adding more panels to Tesla system after installed?

I get installed on Friday haha. I don’t think I should make changes now or I could miss the deadline.

Adding more panels to Tesla system after installed?

Interesting, what about If solar improves massively in future technology where it makes sense to swap out a couple panels while staying under the 10% NEM 2.0 allowable increase.

Adding more panels to Tesla system after installed?

Sure. I get all that, but I’m looking for technical limitations and whether I would need a completely separate 4.8kw or something system and properly planning it when there’s an in-place system or am I just being a lunatic the sky is falling NEM 3.0 person when I have a 7.2kwh getting installed.
