Unfortunately yes ... 9k is approx what I paid for a new motor. I was having some sort of internal short in the motor wiring that a few owners experienced. Out of warranty of course. I got to keep the old core, so I sent it to a fellow in Seattle to have it restrung. I didn't ask tesla if they...

Thanks. Strange - it didn't get hot on the 15 mile trip back to the service center. I thought it could be just a software glitch, but the fans have always come on when I plug in to 240v/70a at rabobank in Salinas.

Received this error after taking it in to Monterey Tesla for annual service. Fans don't come on - driving or charging. Worried that it's a PEM issue ... but 1428 doesn't appear in forum threads (usually 1144?). Any ideas?

Ben. I have a rebuilt motor from my 1.5. Tesla Palo Alto replaced it last year with a new one and I had the old core rebuilt in Seattle. Let me know if you're interested

I'm looking for someone to install one in my 2008 Roadster - preferable bay area or SoCal no further South than LA. I'm near Monterey. Lotus dealership in Bay Area has never done it. Any help would be appreciated.

I just had mine replaced at Tesla Burlingame and was informed 12 mos. 2008 1.5 at around 23K. the repair total was about 9.5K. I'm having the motor rebuilt by a private party if you're interested.
