Wholesale Electric Provider in Houston area

I knew rural electricity companies were exempted from Texas electricity competition, but College Station? Really?

Wholesale Electric Provider in Houston area

Fantastic - thanks so much! I start charging the Tesla at midnight too and it has always sort of irked me that I get none of the benefit (the rate to me is 7.2c per kwh regardless). It's interesting the rate is still going down after midnight so maybe a 2am start would be better? Anyway, it...

Cool. I assume you charge the Tesla late at night. Do you have a picture showing the rates when your charging kicks in?

Is that chart from the Griddy site once you are a member?

I'm very interested in this but found it hard to compare with existing tariffs. I'm currently paying 7.2c per kwh for 100% wind energy (3.6c per kwh energy charge and the balance for transport and fees). I have the time profile data on my usage from the smart meter, but don't really know how...

Tesla Glass Tile Solar Roof Update

I agree it's bogus if a utility uses wire and transformer capacity as an excuse. But there are valid reasons for a utility to make a charge for network upgrades. For example, my small rural co-op would not connect a solar system until I was upgraded to a smart meter that was capable of...

Tesla Glass Tile Solar Roof Update

Defy the laws of physics, which is what you suggested. I really wasn't looking to start an argument, and I don't have the domain expertise you do, but I understood you to have said prevention of back feeding of power to the grid is impossible and I simply said it wasn't.

"That defies the laws of physics." No it doesn't. It's certainly possible to install equipment to prevent power being back fed to the grid and I can imagine utilities might want to do this for safety reasons (though I have no idea which utilities, if any, may have done this).

    Texas Tax Due Date

@jerry33. It's 20 working days, 30 calendar days, so you were on time. @barbja. The section you quoted refers to sales tax on vehicle sales within Texas. If you read the section on vehicle sales in other states it is clear that tax (which is actually a use tax, not a sales tax) is due 20...

    Texas Tax Due Date

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm fairly sure you are going to have to pay at least a penalty of 5% of the tax due. I would advise you to go to the tax office ASAP because the penalty goes up to 10% if the tax is more than 60 days late. Full details here...

    Texas Tax Due Date

I would still have had time to pay the tax on time, but I went on a two week vacation right after I took delivery. This turned out to be a double bummer because (1) I was pining for my S for the whole trip, and (2) I was stung for $300 on my return. Amen.

    Texas Tax Due Date

The law is the tax is due 20 working days after a Tesla is brought into Texas. The policy at the tax office is to use the date on the MPVA. Good luck trying to persuade them they are doing it wrong! I believe Teslas's current practice is to sign and date the MPVA as soon as you have signed...

    Texas Tax Due Date

I had to pay a 5% late penalty when I went to pay my taxes. I thought I should warn others about this. Though Texas law is clear that the tax on a vehicle purchased in another state is due on the 20th working day after the date the vehicle is brought into Texas (Texas Transportation Code...
