2018 Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor vs. Performance Dyno Results

Thanks @hoang51 for the trip down to complete this comparison and the video work. This was a fun time and very interesting to see the results. Comparing the dyno graphs, you can see where the software limitations start to apply to the M3D.

    AWD non-performance HP and Torque?

Yes I was thinking the same thing with software limiting, you can see how it matches the Chill mode runs as well in terms of curve. Guess it takes that 100 extra to get the 1s 0-60 difference for our heavy cars.

    AWD non-performance HP and Torque?

Vid of run: DSC_0212.MOV Ignore RPM it wasn't used and isn't relevant. Cars were run to about 110 to 120 when power started to drop off, the bottom x axis is actually speed missing the last zero.

    AWD non-performance HP and Torque?

Ok, drum roll please........... the data is in, we ran a couple of runs of both the M3D and the M3D Performance and the comparison graphs are attached. Also ran a run of both cars in Chill mode with very minimal deviation between the two. Both cars were close to 90% SOC and dropped to close to...

Had a couple good runs today on both the cars. Will upload data shortly, thanks to all that helped fund about half the cost. And thanks @hoang51 for bringing his car for the comparison.

Both of us have a bit of a drive to the dyno so batt will be warm and there is a supercharger within a few miles, we will both charge to 90% for the runs. Since the runs will be back to back, we won't get to test much lower SOC just where the car is at after each run.

All, Dyno run is rescheduled for 11/30 @ 1pm. @hoang51 has agreed to travel and run his Performance AWD so we can get a same day comparison to my AWD. It looks like total cost will be about $160 for the 2 cars, if you want to help that would be great, but I'll cover whatever difference there...
