Farting around with show traffic on nav, seems to make no difference.. One day, the browser was working again with reasonable input/reaction and paint times. I thought, awesome! traffic off is the ticket! but... The next day, same old white screen of death. Traffic on or off. Didn't matter...

I think the key piece of the retrofit was getting the software unlocked on the console.
