Death of a center screen / touch screen after warranty

The comments about purchasing the ESA, or not keeping a MS once it's out of warranty is very troublesome to me, and doesn't really address the cost of long term ownership. My MS was delivered the end of Sept, 2014, and I did purchase the ESA, I'm now coming up on 27 months of ownership, and I...

Improving Supercharger Availability $0.40 idle fee

I don't think you understood my point. Since Tesla messages me about 3 charging statuses; 1) when charging has started 2) when it's almost complete, and 3) when it's complete, how about the app being updated so that an owner can specify a particular audible alert to signify when any of these...

Improving Supercharger Availability $0.40 idle fee

As an owner who has 89,000 miles in 26 months, I think this is a knee-jerk reaction to a situation that needs to be addressed. 1) I have not been able to set my iPhone messaging to give me an audible alert when charging is complete. Having an audible alert that needs acknowledgement would...

An Update to our Supercharging Program

I woke up this morning to the breaking Tesla news. I've had my MS for 25 months now,and have 81,000 miles on it. It's seen Canada and the US, and I admit I love driving it. I understand that my current MS is not impacted, but my thoughts about buying a new one is a couple of years might be...

Feasible to get California to spend $ maintaining lane markings better?

I couldn't agree with you more! The lane markings are horrendous. In Northern California, I-5 markings just disappear, and seem to be the lowest priority for CalTrans. Lane markings on I-5 from Tracy to Yolo County are terrible.

Tesla's 85 kWh rating needs an asterisk (up to 81 kWh, with up to ~77 kWh usable)

Some very strongly held positions on this thread. While I say to each his own, I appreciate reading the greatly varied views. I would like to get the usable energy out of the MS I paid for. That said, I'm looking for other examples to refute/support my position (whatever it may be) My...

In-development: Inexpensive Custom BMS for Tesla Battery Modules

I see this leading to PowerWall 2.0! Being able to repurpose Tesla Battery Modules will greatly increase their usefulness. What voltage do you intend to bring each cell to? 4.10 Volts? adjustable? Thanks for pursuing this.

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

btr ftw, It's a shame that you couldn't disassemble your vehicle, with pictures and steps to show how to get at, remove and replace parts, assemblies, etc. I'd think working out a deal with Haynes or Chiltons would be an interesting endeavour. Haynes DIY manuals get updated as new models are...

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

How about the old kids snorkel, you know, the one with the ping pong type ball that free floats, but closes when your head dipped a bit too low in the water. But on second thought, probably not in Tesla's marketing strategic vision.

Tesla's 85 kWh rating needs an asterisk (up to 81 kWh, with up to ~77 kWh usable)

wk057, Thanks for the info. Here's my 2 cents worth. The comparison about engine size of ICE vehicle model vs engine size is tenuous. on a Mercedes 300 being a 2.8 litre or 3.0 litre is immaterial, since the engine displacement was inferred in the model number. You could say it's assumed on...

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

I specialize in 2002 Ford Thinks, which is a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV). A couple of months ago, I added another Ford Think to my herd (or maybe this being the 1st in my flotilla is a better description). It was on a boat ramp, and by accident, was driven into the ocean. It remained...

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

How about "V1, V2, Rotate" For those not in the know, these are aircraft takeoff terms. V1 is the speed beyond which the takeoff can no longer be safely aborted V2 is the speed at which the aircraft may safely become airborne with one engine inoperative Rotate is said as a...

    Blown two tires

I don't know the current pricing on the 21" tires and rims, but paid the Tesla SC yesterday for the following,... a new 19" Michelin Tire ($300), New Stock Rim ($300), TPMS ($50), Mounting & Balancing ($50), plus tax. The 19" Goodyear tire ($180) was also available from Tesla, but I prefer...
