Selling a brand new HPWC. I bought it last April to install a new house we were building but I ended up selling my Tesla as I didn't drive it anymore (thanks COVID). Not sure what the going rate is for these right now but I'll start at $500. Located in MN but willing to ship at buyers expense.

Unfortunately this isn’t the case. According to the DMV form you fill out you add the cash paid plus the value of the trade to calculate sales tax. It’s pretty bogus considering if you trade to a dealer it’s deducted. Unless you are a dealer.

Too bad there isn’t tax savings on a private trade like this (I’m also in Buffalo). I have a LR AWD 3 with FSD and want to upgrade to an X. Taxes would kill the deal for me. I’m going to just end up waiting for the truck when it comes out and deal with the no space issue for now.

I guess if you were looking to buy another Tesla it would have likely made sense to trade it? At $47k-$48k trade-in, you would have saved another $4k-$5k in taxes (if your state allows) and not have had the hassle of trying to sell to a private party. Thanks for sharing the selling price and...
