    UK EV grant cut

So it looks like the govt is cutting the EV grant by £1000 in November down to £3500. I guess very few people based their buying decisions on the strength of the £4500 grant, but this coupled to an increase in BIK value to 16% does seem to suggest the politicians commitment to ev’s may be losing...

    Test drive impressions

Yes, but isn’t it great that, if you choose, you can customise that technology at will? Unlike v9 update where it appears a significant amount of flexibility and choice appears to have been taken away from the biggest technology access point in the car.

    Rear-view camera with V9 firmware

Totally agree; the ability to configure the screen to personal preference is (was?) a compelling factor. The screen is a unique feature to Tesla, but by taking control of some of the real estate I feel they have diminished the impact somewhat.

    Test drive impressions

Because I don't believe it is good practice to plan to go below 20% and charge above 80% every single day. Of course it is OK to do so when necessary but everything on the subject recommends only fully charging just before a long trip and setting off as soon as possible after charging is...

    Test drive impressions

I understand the effect temperatures (high and low) can have on range, and also how different chemistries and battery pack assembly have an impact on battery degradation and optimum charging cycles, which is why I am trying to ensure that my final choice can achieve 200 real world miles at least...

    Test drive impressions

Yes,that's part of what concerned me about Jaguars potential lack of commitment to ev. For example, they quite willingly quote battery range degradation of 20%. That suggests to me that they either don't have a lot of confidence in their battery, or they don't really understand their own battery...

    Test drive impressions

I am 2/3 through my self-imposed test drive programme having tried MX100 and Jaguar iPace, and here are a few thoughts from them. Please be aware they are personal opinions only so please, don't flame me for expressing them. First thing is that MX cabin is more airy that iPace, although neither...

    Current lease deals in UK

Would seem they are on there now (for UK new inventory anyway), APR 3.1%

    Current lease deals in UK

I know some people have fitted tow bar to MS but it is not type approved for tow bar in the UK so almost certainly not legal.

    Current lease deals in UK

Thanks for the real-world info, that is very useful insight indeed to have. If I had access to the high rate charger we use for our ev battery packs then it would be no problem at all but they are not normally kept at the same site as I work. However I’ve got a couple of options if I have to...

    Current lease deals in UK

Thanks for all the comments. Definitely won’t be ordering by Sept 16th, have fellow directors to convince away from the current company car scheme yet, so I’m targeting before end of year. As a company we have some involvement with EV technology, but we are quite entrenched with the manufacturer...

    Current lease deals in UK

Thanks for the tip on leaseplango, I had already come across them as just leaseplan. They’ve been about a long time, but on this occasion they are pretty expensive.

    Current lease deals in UK

Getting closer to being in a position to acquire a Tesla, although yet to decide on Model S or X, 75 or 100 (not even fully ruled out I-pace yet), so first question is, other than through Tesla themselves, are there any good 3rd-party (business) lease deals for Tesla available in UK? The better...

How is Model S in Snow?

Now we’ve got our first UK snow for a while, and because when I do eventually get in the market for MS I am going to have to consider rwd cars, I would be interested to hear how 2 wheel drive Model S owners are getting on in the conditions, or should I consider dual motor a necessity at the...

Guy Martin and the Robot Car

I had the privilege of working on a project with Guy this year and I can tell you he is very enthusiastic about EV technology. He has genuine interest in what makes things tick, whether it’s powered by petrol, diesel or battery.
