    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

My wife is a County Supervisor in Mariposa County, and she has been getting frequent reports of Teslas navigating to The Mariposa Grove in Yosemite being sent up White Chief Mountain Road which turns into Star Lake Road, a non-maintained Forest Service dirt road where they get lost as it does...

    Yosemite trip during storm

And BTW, we now have Superchargers in Mariposa at Pioneer Market and at Yosemite View Lodge right before you enter the Park. Such an improvement from a year or so ago. The ones at Pioneer Market are never full it seems. (Except for a few ICE cars.)

    Yosemite trip during storm

The M&S rating is important as you will not be required to put on chains if it is R2, but, of course, you can if you feel safer that way. HWY 140 is definitely the way to get to Yosemite in the winter as it follows the Merced Wild and Scenic River and does not involve the higher elevations that...

    Yosemite trip during storm

Are your All Season tires M&S rated? If so, you will likely not need to put the chains on. If not, better practice putting chains on before you leave. We live just outside of the Park and do have proper winter tires on our M3LR during the winter. The current forecast indicated a few inches...

    Battery's & Audiophiles

We have a home theater with pretty high-end gear and run everyday on the Powerwalls during partial peak and peak PG&E rate hours, 3PM until midnight, for obvious reasons. And during that time we watch TV with our JVC 4K projector, 7.2.4 audio setup, listen to music, etc. Not an issue. On...

Wondering about generator use with Solar Roof and Powerwalls

I don't know how deep the Sonotubes went for sure. The guys who put them in used a Bobcat with an auger to get down 3 feet or so from what I saw. We had to remove all the panels and I used my tractor to pull them back up straight. Now all tubes are doubly diagonally braced, so they should be...

Wondering about generator use with Solar Roof and Powerwalls

In the summer I have been able to get through a 10-day outage while we were evacuated during a wildfire, without ever needing the generator. (Keep the refrigerator going!) But in the winter if the solar panels are covered with snow, it can be a problem to keep the Powerwalls charged. Last...

Wondering about generator use with Solar Roof and Powerwalls

That is what I intended to say.

Wondering about generator use with Solar Roof and Powerwalls

I believe I started the first Tesla Powerwall with a generator thread in 2017 when we received our first Powerhall 2 and wanted to install it with our existing 18 kW Kohler propane generator. Tesla said, No way, no how, and we and our local installed negotiated with Tesla for many months before...

    Model 3 wheel cover purpose?

The 18" alloy wheels without the aero covers look great, especially with the midnight silver paint. You just need to buy the aero wheel cap kit to cover the lug nuts. I used the old one with individual nut caps and a small center cover, but I see the new wheel cap kit now just has a larger...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

When we moved to Mariposa we kept the AT&T plans we had had in the Bay Area for 10 years or so, and did OK, especially as we had an AT&T microcell at home and eventually Wi-Fi calling. In town and around the county the coverage was spotty at best. Verizon seemed to be the carrier of choice...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

I think Verizon is fine in most all of Mariposa. AT&T, not so much.

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

I can also confirm that the chargers are up and working, at least the one we tried. When we got there 2 of the 60 minute general parking stalls were ICEd and when we left a 3rd ICE vehicle was in one of the Tesla Charging Only stalls. We will see how much of an issue ICEing is at this site and...
