Oops, you're right. Long week. Meant to type "performance."

    Tahoe Snow Report

I griped about this elsewhere on this forum. It would be nice to tell the planner that you are comfortable running close to 0% and thus are willing to skip Superchargers if possible. Or, to put it closer to the way you've described it, that you want to minimize Supercharger time by scheduling...

Yes, thanks, that's what I meant. Pushing water or snow aside isn't free.

    Tahoe Snow Report

I've generally seen that to be true in my workday commute on 101. However, this particular kind of trip might have unusual factors that tip the balance. First, because it's mostly uphill, I don't think we can recapture much in regen, especially when it's I-80 winter-style stop and go (at best...

    Tahoe Snow Report

Successful trip from San Francisco Bay Area to Tahoe City last night in an early-vintage (VIN 002009) Model X 90D. These were under harder than normal conditions: 5 people (2 adults, 3 mid-size kids), new 20" snow tires (the ones Tesla sells). Normal amount of cargo for 5 people. Yakima...

PSA: Yes, 19-inch X snow tires will fit in an S

Good to know. Thanks. I was much less confident about that proposition -- plus the X is newer, so I'd be sadder if it got scuffed -- which is why I took the S to the SC.

PSA: Yes, 19-inch X snow tires will fit in an S

Note that I said in, not on. (Maybe they do fit on an S, but I haven't tried.) Picked up the 19-inch Cyclone Wheel/Winter Tire Package today from Tesla Burlingame. They're for an X, but I picked them up in an S. The staff were extremely helpful in getting the tires packed in, as well as very...

Possible reservation number hint on My Tesla

This is all I have to contribute: German tank problem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In World War II, the Allies estimated the number of German tanks produced by looking at the serial numbers of the ones they captured or destroyed. "The statistical approach proved to be far more accurate...

    New Wall Connector :)

Tried again tonight with a similar setup but made sure to actually plug both cars in. This time the car with the higher starting charge ranged between 26-30A, and the car with the lower charge ranged between 48-51A. So it seems to be working as expected/hoped. As for firmware updates, I have...

    New Wall Connector :)

AAARGH! Never mind my last post. When the X completed charging and the S remained at 18A, I knew something was wrong. Sure enough I walked outside to see the orange ring. I hadn't plugged the S in all the way. I'll try again next time the cars are in the 25%/50% charge state. Sorry for the noise.

    New Wall Connector :)

I just tried this. X at about 20% charge. S at about 55% charge. Both had charge limit set about a half-notch below bottom of range-charge limit. I plugged them both in and let them settle for about 10 minutes. After that, the X was charging at 51A, and the S at 18A. Note that those two values...

    New Wall Connector :)

Almost forgot: I did wake up this morning around 4am (that's why I almost forgot), saw that both cars had completed charging, then set the S's charge limit a few notches higher. After around 10 minutes the car was charging at 74A. This is while the X was plugged in with a completed charge. So...

    New Wall Connector :)

I just sent mail to my electrician, because I see very little on the exposed parts that would conclusively answer the question. Here's what I can see: 200A main with single 100A breaker marked "Tesla." This was here for the initial installation in 2014. Wall Connector #1 attached to the outside...

    New Wall Connector :)

Had two new Wall Connectors installed today, replacing my first-gen HPWC after our second Tesla arrived on April 30. They're connected to a single 100A circuit (80A available). Just to confirm what people were hoping was the case: Plug in one car, and it indicates 80A available. Plug in the...
