    Okay, so there is one really poor person buying a model S.

    A couple things I could touch on here: -> The primary driver of degradation is cycling. A battery can (in theory) sit on a shelf and lose charge without 'aging' (degrading) the battery. -> It will still charge to nominal voltage - as a battery approaches full charge, its internal resistance...
