    AutoPilot and Animals

I very narrowly missed hitting a cow with my Model X with AutoPilot engaged. It was dark and the cow was black, so it wasn't visible very far in advance. The car was driving the speed limit (35 mph in this case) and there were no other cars around. The cow was slowly crossing the road from...

Don't Let Your X Lock You Out in the Cold!

Maybe there's something wrong with my fob, but unless I've unlocked the car with the fob immediately before entering, I ALWAYS get the "fob not in vehicle" error. My solution is to double-click the roof of the fob. I half-way thought that's just the way it works, and half way thought something...

    Broken accelerator pedal

Why wouldn't it be covered by the warranty? It's not a "normal wear" item.

    Scary Thanksgiving Incident -Tesla X

If you had an alert to "change the battery" and you had a sulfur smell, this sounds like an issue with the 12V lead acid battery, not the battery pack that actually powers the car. The 12V battery is just a regular car battery, like is found in any other car. Whatever issue it had isn't...

Bought a P90DL from Tesla that does not have Ludicrous Mode

What DO they claim the L and/or red underline mean? They must mean something if some have them and some don't.

Pulled over in new Model X after 15-20 years of hassle free driving

Yes, that would provide good skin cancer protection, but then you wouldn't be able to think that you're the cool kid on the block because of your tinted windows and justify it by claiming it's for your health. I don't think that laws against tinted windows are primarily there for law...

Fan Noise so loud that I have to turn off while at drive thru

Well, you did turn it up to 11. It's bound to be loud.

    The Upcoming Major Refresh

That's very informative. You restated what I already said in my question, and didn't answer my question. Thanks!

    The Upcoming Major Refresh

I understand what you're saying about them having an evolving configuration for their cars, but they do have model years at least in the legal sense. The Certificate Of Origin that comes with the car from the factory has a model year on it, and that's what will appear on the title and...

    12v trunk port staying on?

If it's the case that the trunk 12V stays on always, that's great news as far as I'm concerned (perhaps with a cutoff if the battery goes below 20%). Some people would want it to stay on all the time, such as people that want to have a refrigerator without having to get an external battery unit...

    MX Insurance in Texas

I paid $928 for 6 months with Nationwide for a new Model X, and that's with the liability bumped up to $300k. That did include the multi-car discount and probably some other discounts for having other policies, but I doubt it would be anywhere near $1700 without those.

    Car won’t shift into gear

You didn't provide very many details. When I get that message, I find that double-clicking the roof of the fob once or twice fixes the problem. Since there are several failure modes that result in the same message, that may not work in your case.

Damp cloth on super charger handle to reduce ramp down?

I think it's likely that the sensor is in the handle because that's the component that's at risk of overheating due to a less-than-optimal connection. That is, if the connection between the handle and the car is loose (such as a worn socket on the car), corroded or dirty, or just poorly seated...

    Key not in car

I have what seems to be a slightly different problem than most here. I normally unlock the car with a double-tap on the roof part of the fob, get in and, drive away. But, if I linger inside the car for more than just a few minutes, then the "Fob not in car - can't drive" message comes up, even...
