This is not necessary. Simply put your hand through the open window and press down on the driver seat until the sensor is triggered. It will not reset until the door is opened and closed again. I do this all the time when I want to sit in the passenger seat while charging.

An important thing to keep in mind is that SOC has almost no effect on 0-60. It’s once you’re accelerating above those speeds that charge matters. As someone who commutes in the greater New York area, driving between 30-80 mph, I find the car has very little practical degradation above 50% SOC.

Perhaps some high level executive at Tesla had promised to always give loaners, which would be top of the line versions of current models. I know it sounds crazy, but maybe worth looking into.

Great post, that precisely explains why Tesla service is so bad. Despite the high asp Tesla behaves like they’re selling base model Kias. They are a very very long way from the vision of an Apple-like car company.

I’m pretty sure in plain English the note says they didn’t securely connect some wiring at the factory and it disconnected while driving, causing some serious errors.
