Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Not sure about all the symtoms of a failing eMMC, but that frequent total loss of audio is quite annoying and I could neither find any more info about that specific issue online, nor did the technician at our local SeC have any idea.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Nice, I didn't know that! But then the recurring problems we are experiencing, like missing characters and other distortions on the MCU, or complete loss of the audio system including the turn signal and autopilot sounds, which can not be brought back by a reset of the MCU or ICU, but only by...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Something else that came to mind: Can you request to get the replaced MCU1 handed out or will the SeC keep it?

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Reading this, I'm wondering if there has there ever been a report of yellowing on the latest generation of MCU2 used in the retrofit, or is this now definitely an issue from the past?

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

    DEFINITELY requires AP2+ hardware.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

The hip factor and the problem of dying eMMC gone! Functional I am not dissatisfied with what our MCU1 has to offer. Since ours is a Model S facelift, it already has the LTE module. Yes, it's quite slow at times, and yes, quite a lot of software annoyances lately (like complete loss of audio...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

That's odd, because that looks like the regular price including the HW3 retrofit, which wasn't applicable for your vehicle. That would mean owners of of AP1.0 vehicles pay a premium for the same upgrade with only one price in place (so the same price with and without the HW3 retrofit).

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Indeed, that's the info here in my country as well, so currently only AP2.0 and AP2.5 vehicles eligible for that retrofit. Thanks. How much did you pay for it? Because the assumption was, that the retrofit for AP1 vehicles must be cheaper due to the missing HW3 upgrade. So if that's correct...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Has there any AP1 vehicle already been eligible for the MCU2 upgrade? And if yes, what is the part number of that MCU2 retrofit for AP1 vehicles? I've been caught by the following confusing situation: Two days ago my local SeC informed me that the MCU2 retrofit can now be ordered, which I did...

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

Our MCU1 from 2016 also shows some typical early signs of a failing eMMC and we already have a service appointment 2 days before the warranty ends in September (though we are definitely going for the 4J warranty extension). The question is now, how do I get our service center to exchange that...

Any success story of an authorized RWD 75 uncorking yet?

You mean your Model S 60D, right? Because this thread is about any success story of a RWD uncorking, which never happened.

Appeal to Tesla to unlock all those software-limited High Amperage Chargers

Yeah, not so here in Europe (and everywhere else where there is 3-phase power) because all three charging boards are required to make use of 3-phase power and to not cause out of balance power consumption, which isn't allowed by the grid operators. That software-limitation was just a bad idea...

Appeal to Tesla to unlock all those software-limited High Amperage Chargers

That's the whole point. It's worth nothing now because they are giving it for free to anybody who ordered after June 30, 2017.
