CCS & NACS now possible for Roadster with Jdemo mod

Have a friend with a Lightning or Cybertruck meet you at the Supercharger. They fast charge. Then you charge from the 240V in their bed. ;)

What did you park next to? (Or what makes the Roadster look tiny?)

113 after leaving the North Houston Service Center with a brand new R80 pack. Stopped in front of 12 Cybertrucks at the Cypress Service Center on the way home ;)

    Saggy chins

Not an issue with a properly executed layup. I use eight layers of 2 aerospace grade fabrics. 12K 2x2 twill on the visible layers for cosmetics. Zoltek 50K quadaxial fabric in between. Same stuff is used in wind turbine blades, so it should be fine supporting a front spoiler and undertray ;)...

    Saggy chins

Both of my cars have had their brackets break, so I fabricated a replacement in carbon fiber - https://eggplantfab.com/product/front-chin-bracket/

    VIN 1227 Introduction

Welcome to TMC, and wow!! So excited to see it on 1227. Perfectly complements the exterior and interior carbon accents! As far as events, we had an epic meetup in August 2022 at Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne. Over 25 cars showed up from CA, WA, and TX. Hopefully we can make it happen again...

Hardtops and other clear carbon fiber parts now in production

Latest project - recreating the upper door sills, AKA "waterfalls". In the process, I've recreated these inserts that Tesla never made in carbon fiber. I noticed that on the 1.5s, the "cubby" is raw textured plastic while the 2.x's got a felt liner. Question for the community - if this was to go...

Hardtops and other clear carbon fiber parts now in production

I've actually had this project on the back burner for a while. One of my cars has a torn rear mudflap, and I've noticed several other Roadsters with ripped or very worn pieces. Replacements in carbon fiber would be much more durable and look nicer (in my opinion). Here is a rough prototype piece...

Report: 3.0 pack upgrade now $40k

On the plus side, they're cranking them out faster now. #113's original pack had a brick go bad at the beginning of July, so I got in line for the 3.0. They told me then that it would be 6-12 months just to get the pack built. Received a voicemail from Tesla earlier this afternoon. There's an...

Hardtops and other clear carbon fiber parts now in production

A fellow owner was missing his original headlight access panels, so this happened.

Hardtops and other clear carbon fiber parts now in production

Just finished a 100% clear hardtop for a customer with a Radiant Red 2.5. Somewhere between sanding the 3rd and 4th coats of clear on the interior side, I was slightly regretting offering the option. Lots of details to get right when fabric headliner isn't hiding them. But after finally seeing...

    Roadster 3.0

I'm currently in line for one, as of July 6th. They said 6-12 months for it to be assembled and ready for installation. From what I understand, you can't just order one because you want it. It's only available as a fix to a dead or dying pack. They no longer do sheet swaps on original packs...

Road trip! Looking for charging help in Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY

Looks exactly like what @Frisco-Dad did last year - Epic Road Trip. I've been considering getting a tow rig to take Roadsters to events. Truck transport is $$$$ and I enjoy adventures like this. Thanks for sharing!

Hardtops and other clear carbon fiber parts now in production

A gloss hardtop trim panel, installed. Was a little concerned about glare on these, but there's none at all.

    Difference between 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 Sport, 2.5 Base and 3.0

For North America: 1.5 -> VIN 500 and below 2.0 -> VIN 501 - 963 2.5 -> 964+ A Sport will have badging on the rear and sides. Base has none. 3.0 is a nebulous term that simply means the car received the R80 battery upgrade at some point post-delivery. It's possible for a 1.5 car to get the R80...

Hardtops and other clear carbon fiber parts now in production

I've actually thought about making a "fat top" that sits about 8-12 inches taller than OEM and has integrated storage space ;). Maybe someday down the road. Knowing what I know now about the hardtop, I'd be worried about attaching anything to it that can significantly increase drag. The forward...
