It’s the MCU which causes the lack of ability to record videos. Supposedly footage is transmitted to Tesla on which you can request it. I can’t confirm this. MCU upgrade enables the full fledged ability of Sentry Mode that most newer Tesla’s have today.

Hey all. My MX Jan ‘17 is in the Service Centre and it just downloaded and installed the latest update available. 2019.8.5 Does anyone know what this update actually entails? I’m intrigued.

Had a long old chat with a software engineer in the states last week. He confirmed that being on a trusted (he may have meant secure?) strong WiFi network and charging/high SoC usually results in downloading the newest three updates if coming from a 2018 build. I.e 2019.8.3 then 8.4 then 8.5...

Hey Jamie. My Model X is in the Service Centre and over the course of three days it’s gone from 2018.4.5 (I believe) to the most current 2019.8.5 - connecting to a strong WiFi overnight tends to download the update and then you can install from the dash or mobile app.
