Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's not a dumb question. The question is due to the wording from Tesla: "Each stockholder of record on August 21, 2020 will receive a dividend of four additional shares of common stock for each then-held share, to be distributed after close of trading on August 28, 2020." Hence, the question...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Respectfully, I don't think you're correct, and by being so certain, you are misleading a bunch of shareholders. I believe what you're describing applies if Tesla issues a stock dividend by diluting current shares similar to how they would issue stock compensation to employees. This is not...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I would very much like this to be true and for shorts to have to cover, but I don't think this will be the case. The short shares that are bought a second time are fabricated by the broker. They don't actually exist. Even if short sellers are forced to cover 4 post-split shares, that would just...

No, what I mean is the broker can just make the short owe 5 shares.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

@Knightshade Why are you speaking so certain? A short's obligation is between them and their broker. You are saying the broker will force the short to immediately cover 4 post-split shares on the effective date. This does not make sense from the broker's perspective. Why would they do that...

I think a lot of people are missing the fact that if it takes many more years to achieve FSD (for any company), then Tesla stands to benefit because it is the only company making money from semi-FSD (in the form of cars sold and autopilot/FSD software).

99%+ of the SUVs I've seen on the road are not towing anything. And out of a good handful of trips to China (biggest SUV market), I've never seen an SUV towing anything. I believe your concerns are overblown.

Agree 100%. I even think this is Tesla's best ER, period, including 2013. I'm completely disgusted at the analyst reaction: Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

Pure speculation, but based on recent developments and this tweet... Elon Musk on Twitter ... I believe some of the money is coming from China.

A good analogy for this is the smartphone market. The iPhone destroyed Nokia and Blackberry sales, but also created opportunities for upstarts like Huawei and Xiaomi.

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

For this to be worthwhile, for every % dilution, the market cap has to be at least that % larger at a given point in the future than if there were no dilution. This is already factoring in the time value of money. If Tesla gets to 1T cap somewhat earlier, but you own a lot less of that 1T, then...

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

Curt, while I agree with your point overall, I feel uneasy every time this is brought up. Because there is something called Total Addressable Market, which is not infinite. Suppose there is a path for Tesla to achieve a $1T market cap in 10-15 years. Tesla can theoretically raise $50B by...
