    Red MY Waiting Room

Just picked it up from the detailer. We got a clear bra (XPEL) on the front and ceramic tinting on all the windows. The tint is legal for NC with 45% on the front windows and 70% on the rear windows. (Stock tinting on the Tesla darkens it further.) There’s also a transparent ceramic film for the...

    Got My 2021 VIN!

I accepted delivery about two weeks ago (October 11 build) and originally thought it was perfect. We discovered today that the headliner is not attached. I believe it was originally flush and in the correct position, but has since fallen down since it wasn’t properly secured. Luckily we already...

    Gap Insurance on Tesla loan?

I’m surprised to hear this. I purchased gap insurance from State Farm in 2017 and our loan was through a credit union. Perhaps they’ve stopped offering it. For the Model Y we picked up this week, we switched insurance providers to Progressive. Progressive does not offer gap insurance, so we...

    Red MY Waiting Room

I drove it into work for the first time today. (I work at a vaccine manufacturer, so go figure we’re exempt from closures). The security personnel doing the temperature checks gave me a healthy “daaaammmn!” when I rolled down the window. He specifically commented on how nice the color was, even...

    What's different from Model Y 2020 & 2021

Historically, Tesla followed the calendar year (build date = model year). However, in 2019 and 2020, they began producing cars with VINs in the next calendar year beginning in October (VINs reflected 2020 and 2021 respectively). Tesla built a few 2021 Model Ys in early/mid October that were no...

    What's different from Model Y 2020 & 2021

I agree it’s definitely not ideal. It may have been a misunderstanding since very few 2021s will have single paned glass. When I mentioned the new double paned windows to the rep I was working with today, he admitted that he often reads things online before the company puts out official notices...

    What's different from Model Y 2020 & 2021

I wish Tesla had made a clean transition to double paned windows with the 2020/2021 switch. If I had to guess, they bought enough to last them through Q3 and then used the remaining supply until they ran out. Not ideal for consumers, but smart business sense.

    Red MY Waiting Room

Build date October 11th. VIN 60xxx. The other Model Ys we saw ranged from 60xxx-62xxx.

    What's different from Model Y 2020 & 2021

The single paned windows don’t bother us, so we’re planning to accept delivery tomorrow. We’re getting ceramic tint throughout, which will reject more heat than this upgrade. (Double paned windows probably won’t do much to offset heat introduced through the all-glass roof!) We’re also satisfied...

    Delivery Quality Review:

I looked at several Model Ys at a Tesla Service Center today (exterior only) and they all looked great. Much improved from the ones I saw last month helping a friend with his delivery. We saw no fit/finish issues, except: - The ever-persistent white bumper not matching - Trunks were consistently...

    Red MY Waiting Room

Our red Model Y arrived at the service center today. We saw a total of 4 different red MY on site (all 2021 VINs) and they all looked spectacular for fit and finish. We can’t officially accept delivery until tomorrow because of insurance, but we got to inspect it today. It’s perfect! The minor...

    October delivery Dates

Yes! Those are double paned in the front. Congrats!! Ours unfortunately has single paned windows throughout. Not too worried about it since we’re getting ceramic tint applied and we are satisfied with the current cabin noise. We got to inspect it this afternoon and it’s absolutely perfect. No...

    What's different from Model Y 2020 & 2021

I can confirm this is not accurate. I have a 2021 VIN (60xxx) that arrived at the service center today. It does NOT have the double paned glass. The build date was October 11th.
