2012 Model S - Limp mode - BMS_w172 (Vehicle may not restart) , BMS_u008 (Acceleration and top speed reduced)

Yep. That is a great trick. I tried it a few time and it didn't clear the messages.

2012 Model S - Limp mode - BMS_w172 (Vehicle may not restart) , BMS_u008 (Acceleration and top speed reduced)

I had to pull the 12v and HV Loop to get the car to start. I got a message saying the car would not start. Pulling HV and 12v cleared the hard message but didn't clear the soft/limp messages.

2012 Model S - Limp mode - BMS_w172 (Vehicle may not restart) , BMS_u008 (Acceleration and top speed reduced)

So I don't think their was anything wrong with the old heater but I didn't do any test. I still have that heater. I could check the resistance. There really isn't much to go bad in those. The weather is getting colder so I thought maybe it was related. It all started when my 12v battery...

2012 Model S - Limp mode - BMS_w172 (Vehicle may not restart) , BMS_u008 (Acceleration and top speed reduced)

Hello All, Recently had my model S go into limp mode; BMS_w172 (Vehicle may not restart) , BMS_u008 (Acceleration and top speed reduced). This happened at the same time as the 12v battery needing to be replaced. We took the car to a service center and had the battery replaced. All seamed...

Supercharger - Florence, KY - Houston Road

One note from the pictures. The stalls are not labeled. Once the site has power Tesla will send someone out to certify the site. Typically they will label the stalls and put the final touches on. So even after we get power it could be a week or two before they inspect it and power up for use.

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

    Got it, yeah. That's expected.

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

Do we have evidence to this? Honestly want to know before I start sharing information. From the issues that I've seen / heard of, Tesla hasn't been the one that intervened. I personally have a reputation as a non-standard customer with my local service center, but they have always worked...

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

I can assure you I understand the frustration this issue can cause. The MCU failure in my car caused a major crisis in my family that I was helpless in. However, the MCU in my car lasted 170,000ish miles and 7ish years. The eMMC is a component that has a specific span of life. Much like...

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

No, I’m saying the eMMC is on a board next to the cellar modem. It requires the same level of effort to replace.

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

Bottom line is that there doesn't appear to be anyone that is providing this service right now. Phil (ingineer) is likely the closest you will find to someone able to do this commercially. However, it seams that he is working on a few other projects. A few of us have been unable to contact...

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

There is definitely an increase of this issue. I've got a MCU that has failed and is only displaying a black screen. I'll document and post some videos on this soon. When the "screen bubbles" were first an issue I was able to raise the issue enough with engineers and service that they started...

Got the dreaded "battery charge level is restricted" message yesterday

Do you know what version of the battery you all had? A, B, C, D? The range your VIN numbers were in would be interesting too.

How do clear "replace 12v battery" warning?

The warning will clear when the battery is replaced. There is not a code that needs to be reset. In my experience the system is looking at the voltage of the battery on a few cycles and sees when the voltage comes up. That is my best guess to how it is fixed.

    Supercharger network needs work

I too experienced some significant SuperCharging issue on my last trip. I spent 3 weeks away from home and completely relied on SuperChargers and destination chargers. I had one location that caused me to wait two hours while the car chartered from 10% - 90%. My trip proved to me that you...
