    Screw you, Model 3

My now-80-year-old mother-in-law got a LR RWD M3 out of one of the first batches over two years ago. Whenever I tell people about her experience, I always say: "That woman loves that car like no human should love a piece of machinery."

Blog Tesla Police Car Runs Out of Battery During Chase

The city of Los Angeles bought a bunch of Chevy Volts for their car fleet. After a few years, they went out to auction, as happens to older fleet cars. When examined, it was discovered that almost *none* of them had ever been plugged in. Not *once.* C'mon, people, it isn't that hard.

    Model 3 stinks ....

Had to drive my companies Honda Odyssey this afternoon. Weird shifter, ticky-tacky controls, uncomfortable. The anti-Tesla. Eccccch.

Anyone else SOLELY relying on supercharging?

2018 Model X, just a year old in a few days. Got free SC and use it a lot. The SC is five miles from my house, and I take that time to walk my dog for 45 min or so. Fill up about once a week in the summer, more in the winter. I can see both sides of this question, I think it mostly depends...

    Clean your solar panels!

I have my panels on a shallow-pitch roof on a single-story building, and yes, I do wash them from time to time. In fact, I even shovel (or garage-broom) snow off of them in the winter. Yeah, I'm nuts. One more "pollutant" to keep an eye on in the spring is pollen. I've had the panels...

Electrify America Fast Chargers - Huh?

Forgot to mention that Electrify America is installing a 4-bay charger at a Walmart within a mile of the Madison Superchargers, and our local utility Madison Gas and Electric has about 35 Level 2 J1772's and four Chargepoint L3's in the neighborhood. There are also three or four EVGo's, and the...

Electrify America Fast Chargers - Huh?

There is a 3-SC setup at East Towne Mall in Madison WI (interestingly, there are eight more SC stalls less than a half-mile away at a HyVee) and several years back I saw a two-stall SC on the Connecticut Turnpike. But the trend is definitely towards bigger installs.

Illinois Infrastructure Plan Would Raise EV Registration Fees to $1,000/yr

I'm in Wisconsin; our EV surcharge is $100, which I'm willing to pay - because it's reasonably proportionate to what I *might* have paid in gas tax. My first EV, a 2012 Leaf, replaced a 2008 Prius, which I calculated generated about $65/yr in gas tax. What I find even more outrageous is that...

    “A Tesla! It’s a f*****g Tesla!”

Hye hey HEY hey! <g> We are getting a pretty impressive flood of Teslas here in the Madison - Milwaukee-Green Bay corridor. (Can't really speak to the west side of the state.) M3s are not a rare sighting anymore.

Model X user interface is rather inverted IMHO...

Recently drove my MX 100 from Wisconsin to Vermont and Maine in the middle of the polar vortex. As you can imagine, the heater was an important part of that journey (it was -26f when we left.) And it occurred to me that the controls on the bottom of the display - heater, heated seats etc - are...

Trump threatens to end subsidies for electric vehicles

He He has no such power. Besides, the credits will taper naturally, assuming GM boulds 200,000 electric cars that anyone wants to actually *buy.*

    Model X Road Trips

First medium-long road trip in our new Model X was from Madison WI to Grand Marais MN. Bonus: We camped in the back of the MX. Got a call on Tuesday that there was going to be an impromptu family reunion in the ancestral homeland at the north edge of Lake Superior. We don't get up there much...
