    2013 Model S P85+ - fully loaded, nearly new

The car is still for sale. I've adjusted the asking price to $105,000. 1,600 miles on the clock currently. Since posting, the only modifications have been LED license plate lighting and window tint (Huper Optik 35% - all around). I am open to offers.

    Firmware 5.0

Couldn't say. I had wanted the update before I leave town for a month. No place to keep my car plugged in and figured the reduced energy usage in sleep mode would be nice. They felt for me. Even went so far as to offer storing my car at the service center and dropping me off at the airport. That...

    Firmware 5.0

Service in Burlingame reiterated that 5.0 is on hold due to issues. The guy there was from Seattle and mentioned they had one or two cars up there that were updated and refused to wake up.

Pano Roof Noise - Factory Fix Coming

Interesting. My car was just in the shop with this as one of my concerns. They didn't mention a forthcoming fix. But in the interim, I have no more whistling but now have lots of scratches on the trim piece in the middle part of the car that they're now going to replace. Here's the texts from...

    Model S - Window Tinting

I had my car done yesterday. Huper Optik 35% all around. Looks terrific. The windshield and panoramic roof remain untinted.

    Firmware 5.0

I got the same response. I'm actually curious about this. Cars in Europe were reported to have version 5.5. I wonder if the same bugs exist there.

    Parking sensors

I supplied Volvo's instructions in a previous post and also sent them to my contacts at Tesla. Glad they might be going this route. I did the install on a friends car. It was trivially easy to put holes in the bumper.

    Parking sensors

I did too. I lived in Europe for several years. I'm perfectly fine at parallel parking. Here in SF spaces are difficult to find and often very tight, worse than in Europe. We also have hills, which make the S in Model S stand for sled. It's just personal preference. I'm sure as I have more seat...

    Parking sensors

Keeping it for now. Model S needs additional driver aids at this price point. Now that they're being taken seriously I hope it'll happen. It's a breeze parking my BMW just about anywhere. With Model S, I find myself avoiding certain places in order to keep it pristine.

    Parking sensors

I agree with this without knowing the specifics. Now we wait I guess. I had a chance to play with the sensors and some other options on a friend's car over the weekend. He sacrificed the Plus package to get the other options he wanted. I can't wait for the sensors and fog lights. I also want...

    Firmware 5.0

I'm all for any measures that save power. Model S is a unique experience for me in that I'm not used to a car being ready to go once my butt hits the seat. All my previous cars had an initial warm up period, whether for the engine or electronics. I'm used to this, so much so that I still...

    Model S Pole Crash.

I'm glad she walked away as testament to the safety of Model S. I'm also happy she will face consequences for her actions. High performance cars are no joke. I've always said that BMW M, AMG, etc. should make buyers take vehicle car control and handling classes before they are ever allowed to...

    FW updates OTA vs WiFi?

I admitted that it was a selfish desire, yes. It's just the way I do things. I'm already running Android 4.3 on my Note, iOS 7 on my apple devices, OS X Mavericks on my apple computers, and windows 8.1 on my PCs. I work in IT. I like being an early adopter. I actively provide feedback in all of...

    FW updates OTA vs WiFi?

Back when I worked for a major bank we'd distribute firmware to remote branches via usb for updating ATMs that still had dial up modems. Numerous safeguards existed and it never was a problem. The car has connectivity. If a usb update is attempted the car can phone home to ensure the update is...

    FW updates OTA vs WiFi?

A simple integrity check and quick phone home to validate would solve this concern. Any evidence of tampering would abort the update. There are ways to do this securely that can thwart any wannabe hackers. Other OEMs don't seem to have a problem releasing updates via usb.
