    Winter tire recommendations

Four days now on my Nokian Hakka R3 which replace my prior R2. Much improved dry and wet traction. I expect the ice and snow to be fabulous again. Nokians advertised improvements were correct. Mild increase in road noise versus the R2. One of the benefits is that this line of tires is OEM and...

    Which Snows and Why Poll?

At only four days with my new Nokian Hakka R3, I can tell a much better grip on dry and wet than the R2 had at its best. As I don't live in Alaska or the mountains,I don't need studs. I drive aggressively and the prior Winter tires only lasted 25,000 miles each on my S. I'm still dreaming...

    Which Snows and Why Poll?

Black ice is the biggest risk in my area with lots of snow otherwise. I don’t push it too much in the rain as I understand the limitations of the Hakka R2. I observe the huge number of accidents when it snows and want to avoid a lengthy repair. I think that the risk is with ice, snow, and stupid...

Trump proposes higher payments for coal, nuclear power

Bloomberg online has credited a hit piece on electric cars today from Byrrell Consulting claiming diesel cars are lifetime cleaner than electric. More FUD using coal electricity as source of CO2.

Chicago area body shop recommendation? My baby got hit while parked!

Gold Coast took good care of mine many years ago.

    Door opened while driving

This happened twice to me in the first year or so of production. Firmware fixed it for most people. My handles were replaced three years latter without repeat.

Rear Camera, Can it be kept clean?

I put RainX on the lens and it helps. Clean it first!

I only got 25K miles out of my Continental Extreme Contact tires...

I'm happy to get 15,000 miles from a pair. Of course every stop light reminds me to press the accelerator pedal.

    Anyone regretting their purchase

TrueDelta is where one can find real data on repairs. I report to them religiously.

    Sudden Unintended Acceleration

I agree with post #19. Hitting the curb knocked your foot into the he pedal and Tesla's famous high torque acceleration occurred.

Car died today. Gear indicators turned red.

Last year as I accelerated from a turn, my drive unit made a load "pop/boom" and suddenly no power. There was no road hazard. The motor spun initially in response to the accellerator pedal then cut out also. I rolled into a parking lot and later had the DU replaced. We assume it was the gears...

Bluetooth link shuts off all iPhone sounds

I have my iPhone on vibrate in my pocket. It still vibrates.

I'm getting sick of the cold and it's only January

Tesla is a California company. All the original Roadsters and Model S cars were filled with summer window washer fluid. The service center in Chicago refilled the car in winter with this. Once I understood the problem I waited for the car to warm up one night in the garage, drove into the...

    Keeping battery preheated?

The battery is only at risk for damage at -20 F or so temperature . Not wind chill. I plug it in if it is outside at -10 F or lower just in case. The manual says no concern for a cold battery at -20 F until more than 24 hours ( but it is silent about whether it will use up all its charge self...

    Perfect delivery in Indianapolis

Congratulations, I live in South Bend and have been driving my Model S for five short years. It is a brave new world for you. Every day I drive I think how lucky I am to have this car. You may be better able to drive in the snow with the D than my old RWD, but I suggest good winter tires. Tire...
