While it's true that there are additional levies on top of the kWh cost, that cost is relatively small (per kWh: LRET ~ 0.3c, SRES ~ 0.8c, ESS ~ 0.3c, total 1.4c/kWh). That's on order 10% of the energy cost - so nowhere near what you stated.
Buying energy in bulk is a lot cheaper than what they rip us off for in private households. For our residential/hotel/commercial highrise towers in the Sydney CBD we pay 14c/kWh peak and 10.5c/kWh off-peak on a ~5 GWh annual contract for 2024 (used to be 8c and 6c respectively before the energy...
I mean I got a new UMC in 2022. The tail says 10/10 and 15/15 on it respectively, but it only ever draws 8A or 13A respectively. So I'm assuming that can be upgraded. Unless that's a model 3/Y thing only?
My UMC died in about 2022 I think, long enough since March 2020 that they wouldn't honour warranty in any case, so there's a good chance it's an upgradable one. Will check when back on the island.
2024.8.3 just installed (remotely). Main news seems to be the ability to set the charge limit higher than normal for one time only (when charging prior to a road trip for example). New wifi and bt menus for 3 and Y.
What are some people are talking about here being able to upgrade the firmware...
Thread intermission with this fun story from two days ago regarding Telstra:
I installed a $200 prepay data-only eSIM on my phone via the MyTelstra app. Worked a treat. Then the next day I decided that eSIM needs to be on another phone. Telstra officially supports this via the MyTelstra app -...
@paulp I've never driven to SA so am not aware of the apparently lacking SC network there. It's pretty good over here in the banana shaped region of the east coast, where I do all my driving (south of MEL to north of BNE).
Regarding TACC, I strangely don't suffer the frequent phantom braking...
@Tiger presumably means "features", not "performance"? Because in the performance department, nobody else comes even close to my ludicrously ludicrous Raven.
It's a sad state of affairs if the only upgrade from a Tesla money can buy is nicer (faux)leather stitching, even door gaps, and fixed...
So what alternatives to Tesla are there in the dawn of 2024, really? Some of the most important features for me that have historically separated Tesla from the rest are:
- Car remote controllable for parking: can park itself in and out of spots via key or phone activation without being in the...
Oh, so you did get it in Oz after all? yes on the non-refresh Model S they never rolled it out claiming a technical hurdle. But I thought it wasn't available on any Teslas in Oz. My bad!
That's only a few minutes of video plus logs. If that's what it was?
I suspect they pay Telstra for a given data volume across the fleet - which is why updates don't come down via 4G, and probably also why we never got/never will get remote sentry view.
