    New battery pack (2017+) longevity

In the list of the highest mileage Model Ss, one thing stands out. Practically all of them have had multiple battery pack replacements (and drive units), typically under warranty. They are also usually first gen cars (2012-15). I’ve heard that battery packs made from 2017 and up have much better...

    Extended Warranty claims

I can’t speak about Xcare but I know most third party warranty providers, such as Car Shield, are terrible. My mechanic said he’s never seen a major claim actually get paid. They always have an out. They will claim the issue was because of abuse, a manufacturer defect or normal wear/tear etc and...

Any way to stop the schedule update box from popping up on the screen?

Thanks for the responses. I’m a complete moron for not realizing it goes away when you put the car in drive or reverse. I was always manually hitting the X as soon as I started the car. I don’t drive the car often, it’s mostly my wife’s car, but I should’ve tried that.

Any way to stop the schedule update box from popping up on the screen?

FSD has been overly sensitive to me. If I glance down for a split second to change the radio station or climate control, it starts freaking out. Because of this I rarely use it and use EAP 99% of the time. If EAP is going to be nagged the same as FSD I do not want the update.

Any way to stop the schedule update box from popping up on the screen?

A lot of reports are saying it is overly sensitive. Also, I don’t like the fact that I can get a “time out” because the AI thinks I’m not using AP properly.

Any way to stop the schedule update box from popping up on the screen?

I am declining the new “recall” that cripples AP. Every time you start the car a box pops up on the screen requesting you schedule the software update. Is there any way to stop this box from popping up?

What is your favorite all-round vehicle you've owned?

100% agree. I can’t understand why so many people are afraid of putting miles on them in order to save them for the next guy. Some people are so ridiculous they trailer them to car meets. I bought the car to drive, not to look at it setting in my garage. Plus, when they’re driven they’re a lot...

What is your favorite all-round vehicle you've owned?

I’m kind of a weird guy but my current daily driver, and it has been for nearly two years, is a Ferrari Testarossa. The Model 3 is mostly my wife’s car now. I haven’t driven it in months. I drive the TR everywhere, to the supermarket, 2am Waffle House runs, picking up my kid from school, down to...

    Buying a 2017-19 used P100D?

Thanks for the response. I am leaning towards it. It may sound strange but I actually prefer the older Model S interior compared to the newer ones.

    Buying a 2017-19 used P100D?

Since my Model 3 is pretty much my wife’s car now, I am looking at buying a second Tesla to use as my daily driver. I’ve noticed the older 2017-2019 P100Ds are actually a pretty good value right now. I really don’t want to buy a new S because of the significant decline in value over a short...

Anybody come from a sports car to Tesla?

Me. Well I actually never got out of sports cars, I just added a Model 3. Very different driving experiences but I love them both. One thing to be aware of, an out of warranty Tesla can be every bit as expensive to repair as a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Drifting a Model 3 Mid Range?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I’m gonna see if they will sell me one of those partybox units.

Drifting a Model 3 Mid Range?

Is there any real way to drift in a Model 3? Specifically a 2018 Mid Range RWD model. I’ve turned off slip start but I can’t see that it does anything at all, even when wet. From my understanding dyno mode or disabling one of the ABS sensors will cause it to go into limp mode.

Anybody care to estimate cost to replace battery out of warranty?

Actually mine is a bit more than 10%. It went from 264 to 228. I’ve taken very good care of the battery. It’s been superchargered only 3 times, charged to 100% only once, allowed below 20% once and is always plugged in (charge set to 80%). Tesla service will only tell me the battery is within...

Anybody care to estimate cost to replace battery out of warranty?

I wouldn’t say they have a proven track record with battery longevity. Every single famous high mileage Model S or X has had battery pack replacements, usually multiple ones. My 2018 3 has already lost 10% capacity after less than 10k miles. I think there is a reason Tesla abandoned the 8...
