NTSB update for Autopilot has me looking for an anti-nag device

This confirms my theory that AP + anti nag device + camera covered is a better experience than FSD on software versions above 2023.44.1

    Openpilot Comma 3X?

OpenPilot for HW3 is here. Not sure about HW4 yet.

    CommaAI OpenPilot

OpenPilot is now available for the Model 3 and Y. Haven't looked into it too much yet but here's the install & demo video I found recently:

Looking for a source that lists update file sizes

I received the update over LTE twice within the past week. Confirmed this by doing a reinstall of 2023.44.1 in the service menu to clear the new update download files and waking up the following morning with 2024.3.10 downloaded again via LTE.

    Once again sc**wed by Tesla

Cars depreciate and technology gets cheaper over time. It is what it is. I don’t see any wrongdoing by Tesla here IMO.

Autopilot is useless on non-highway roads.

If you’re gonna buy a Corolla, buy one that is compatible with CommaAI OpenPilot. OP is 10x better than TSS and will give you the hands free driving you are seeking. That being said, I drove several OP compatible Toyotas and Hondas and the droning engine sound was extremely annoying on long...

Any way to stop the schedule update box from popping up on the screen?

Do you happen to remember if any of those forced LTE downloads were "recall updates"? I'm dodging the recall update by sticking to 2023.44.1 and it would be awesome if the popups went away after 2 weeks or so :D

Any way to stop the schedule update box from popping up on the screen?

In a bizarre (and somewhat unfortunate) turn of events, Tesla is now forcing the update to download over LTE and the reinstall software option within the service menu only delays the LTE download for a few hours. They haven’t forced the install yet though, but the popups are annoying as hell.

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

I did that last night and it made the downloaded update files go away…. and woke up this morning to the new update downloaded via LTE yet again 🙃 It looks like Tesla is starting to push the recall “fix” aggressively. I’m hoping that by ignoring the “install update” popups for a few weeks that...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

This is the time to admit I was wrong... Woke up this morning to a notification in the Tesla app that I have an update ready to install. Opened the app and there it was, already downloaded even though the WiFi hasn't been connected for months. It must have downloaded over LTE overnight 😑

    2024.3.10 (FSD 12.3.3) Broke my 22MY

If the car worked before the update but constantly restarts itself after installing the update, it would be fair to blame the update for the issues

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

There's people on this forum still driving around on 2022.x.x firmware versions. I'm disconnected from WiFi and have no plans on updating the firmware anytime soon.

    2024.3.10 (FSD 12.3.3) Broke my 22MY

I wonder who would be on the hook if a Tesla approved and recommended software update causes damage to an out of warranty vehicle. This isn't the first time someone reported that a software update bricked their Tesla.

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

Not the OP but sticking to 2023.44.1 as well for a few reasons: I refuse to let a vehicle I paid for ban me from AP after "5 strikes" that can include system glitches AP on city streets nags a lot more on all the post NHTSA recall versions (anything after 2023.44.1) And that's about it. I'm...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

Not gonna fall for it. I'm perfectly happy with AP for my driving style and FSD would actually be a downgrade in some cases (no scroll wheel trick, mandatory use of cabin camera, 5 strikes, etc)

New AutoPilot is horrible after update

The CANBUS module only works on the 3/Y but they also sell the TSL1/TSL2 modules (compatible with the S/X) that connect behind the scroll wheel inside the steering wheel. The only issue with the TSL1/2 modules is they require airbag and steering wheel removal, which most including myself aren't...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

Chances are if you received a download over LTE while travelling, what actually happened is your vehicle connected to Tesla's wifi automatically at a supercharger and downloaded the update. I saw this happen firsthand in New Jersey a few months ago.

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

Yep. 2023.44.1 + anti nag canbus chip = unlimited hands free autopilot. I keep the camera cover open so I still get nags if I get distracted for more than 7-10 seconds but that can also be closed to make those nags stop as well, if desired.

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

Or keep your Tesla and buy the EVOOOR TSL6 anti-nag device that plugs into the center console under the rear vents. Costs $150 and takes 5 minutes to install, then simply cover your in cabin camera and enjoy unlimited hands free autopilot. So far there's two of us on this forum that own this...

NTSB update for Autopilot has me looking for an anti-nag device

I received my TSL6 module in the mail today, here are my thoughts: Took about 2 weeks to arrive from China (not bad) Arrived in a box with just the module (safely packaged) and the trim tool. No instructions in box. Installation was as easy as the video on the EVOOOR website shows it to...

New AutoPilot is horrible after update

Another (good) thing to keep in mind is that even if the download was forced, you can go into the service menu and reinstall the currently installed software version to get rid of the downloaded update files. I had to do this when my car connected to WiFi at a supercharger off the NJ Turnpike...

New AutoPilot is horrible after update

Still holding onto 2023.44.1 and have no plans on upgrading. I also ordered the TSL6 anti-nag chip (the CANBUS based one) to get rid of most of the nag prompts, we'll see how well that works...

Autopilot is useless on non-highway roads.

I'm still on 2023.44.1 and very rarely run into this issue. Most of my AP usage is on two lane back roads and on stretches without too many traffic lights, it works flawlessly.

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

I did the math based on my current energy cost (15 cents per kWh) and estimated tire life (30,000 miles). For each wh/mi increase, the lifetime cost of the tire increases by $5. So if going with a decent tire bumps up my lifetime efficiency from 225wh/mi to 250, that's only $125 more over the...

NTSB update for Autopilot has me looking for an anti-nag device

Thanks for the information! Quick question, can this be turned off? Ideally, I'd like to only turn it on manually for longer road trips but leave it off during normal driving times.

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

Mine arrived today via US mail but was worded differently. Something along the lines of "make sure you are running version 2023.44.30 or greater" lol

Why choose Model 3 over Model Y if you can have more trunk space?

At today's current prices the Model Y is a no brainer, even though I enjoy driving my 3 a lot more. You can get the Y long range cheaper than the 3 standard range (out-the-door pricing including the federal tax credit)

NTSB update for Autopilot has me looking for an anti-nag device

I like the concept behind the control board based anti-nag device but do not feel comfortable disassembling the steering wheel and messing with the airbag to install it. Is there another option that isn't as risky, maybe using the CANBUS/OBDII port instead?

    Accelerating when braking?

This is an obvious troll thread that hit on all the main anti Tesla viewpoints: * Car accelerates itself * Car supposed to avoid any and all collisions automatically * Elon bad * Wife bad * Car lost half of value very quickly

I got a very unfair third strike that I do not understand. Please help.

Exactly this. The biggest issue with the Tesla community specifically is they are QUICK to blame the driver and are unwilling to accept that there are problems with features they paid for. It's never the car's fault. There's ALWAYS something you could have done to fix the problem 🤦‍♂️
  34. 6

I got a very unfair third strike that I do not understand. Please help.

The fact that you torque the steering wheel a bit from side to side, use the scroll wheel and look ahead while driving and STILL get a strike proves that this update was designed to reduce Tesla's liability by making AP and FSD undesirable to use. This way, when the driver crashes, it can be...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

Looking at these for my next set of tires once I wear the MXM4s down to 3/32 or so (currently at 5 and 6 /32 @ 20k miles). The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion since rain conditions are manageable and snowy conditions are non existent where I'm from. I also like the fact that the IONs are...

Need replacement tires Continental, Michelin, Hankook for Model 3 long range

When I measured my MXM4s at 15k miles the fronts and rears were 6/32" and 5/32" and I rotated the tires shortly thereafter. Now at 20k miles, the measurements are 5/32" and 6/32", so maybe there's hope for seeing 30k out of these tires after all... Still eyeing those ION EVO 18" tires as...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

Thank you!! Travelled 1200 miles for the holiday weekend and upon reaching a supercharger in NJ, the vehicle connected to WiFi at the charging station on its own(!!) and downloaded the update. Afterwards, I'd get an annoying pop up to schedule/install/close the update every time I park thte...

Are there any Android apps or 3rd party devices that can control the scroll wheels?

I know that with the S3XY buttons, there is an Autopilot Hands-On feature that allows you to mimic "right scroll wheel up, right scroll wheel down" in quick succession using the S3XY buttons app. Are there any Android apps or 3rd party devices that can also mimic this function without having to...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot
