    NEMA 6-50 vs 14-50

    Always use ground wire, neutral is not required for 240V Split Phase. Voltage over 25V is required to have ground wire, Sometimes 20V AC (split phase, neutral is not required) Make sure that you have ground wire connected, consult your local code or NEC.
