    OVMS Module and Cooldown

@gregd and @markwj Thanks for the answers :). I knew about the switch hack but I wanted to check first if it would be doable without wiring things. I hoped the new version of the OVMS would have some magical capabilities :) Thanks again and have a nice day :)

    OVMS Module and Cooldown

Hello people. I exhume this thread :) Now the OVMS 3 is available and seems to be bluetooth / wifi / SMS compatible. The summer was really hot here and when driving I saw the battery pack hit high temperature levels. The question is : with the new hardware, is it possible to use the...

    Visiting Gigafactory 1 ?

Hello Silicon Desert :) Thanks for th MP, replyed earlier ;) Your son is not kidding, we really have record heat this year. By chance today it's cooler. If you now spots where I can find gold along the 50, I'm all in. I heard there are also some water springs where you can bath? But those...

    Visiting Gigafactory 1 ?

Hello Silicon Desert. Thanks for all those valuable infos. I was already aware you could not take picture inside the factory, and I don't mind signing a NDA. They do the same at Fremont and it's still well worth the visit. Anyway if you cannot even reach the parking lot freely, I think I'll...

    Visiting Gigafactory 1 ?

Hello. Thanks for your answer. I already asked while booking a tour at the Fremont Factory, they told me they still don't offer tours at GF-1. But I thought it would be ok to go to the parking and take some exterio pictures, until I discover the gate and the postguard. Do you have an email to...

    Visiting Gigafactory 1 ?

Hello People. Next September I'll have the opportunity to drive nearby GF-1 . Long ago I once read that Tesla would soon offer some Factory tours there, but it seems Elon Time is in action and they still don't offer this option. Anyway, even it it's really futile, I'd love to drive there on the...

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

What a horrible situation... How can they refuse to give required paper for a product they sell in EU ?? And how are we supposed to maintain our costly cars if we're unable to get original replacement pieces from Bildstein ? This is becoming crazy ! I was never told I could end up in such a...

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

If I remember correctly, the original total on the rear Bilstein was 900. I have no clue if 50 less will affect the car in any way :p It doesn't sounds to be a great difference to me, but I'm not a car specialist ;) Wish you a good replacement, keep us informed :)

    Wheel bearing change.

Hello VIP Yes my suspension where changed. I didn't do it myself but you'll have all info needed in those 2 threads that were updated very recently: Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks Alignment knocked out of whack... If you have more question feel free to ask ;)

    Wheel bearing change.

Hello. I didn't touch anything at the lower bolt. The piece did rotate easily as soon as the upper bolt was removed, and the part was slided a millimeter or two to allow the rotation. It took me some time to figure that at first ;) best regards
  13. Rolf68

    Wheel bearing change.

Hello Vip, thanks for the feedback. Glad you managed to change you wheel bearing , awesome work !! Just a tip for next time : you don't need to remove the brakes completely. When you have removed the upper bold, the whole part can rotate and free the rotor. The trick to do this, is to push /...

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

Hello There X.l.r.8 you're a genius ;) This morning I had a look at the passenger side front suspension, and the bracket looks new. So that must be the reason this side does not require modification, you can just swap this piece easily there :) Here a picture. About the alignment, they did...

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

Hummm, that's a great hint yes. I don't remember all the parts that were included with the Nitro but you might be right about that. I'll have a closer look tomorrow and I'll see if the bracket is a new one on the passenger side. Thanks :)
  16. Rolf68

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

Hummm, I just looked at your pictures. The difference is that on the passenger side you don't have the extra metal plate over the L to hold the ABS. Maybe the guy who installed the Nitro did just make a little adjustement on the piece for it to fit, and it was such a minimal work that he did not...

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

Hello This is how the original Bilstein fit in the L-Shaped metal piece. I'd say the problem is both 1 and 2 . This is the metal piece once removed : And this it how it as after the swap and removal of the "L part" To check, just remove your front driver wheel and look at how it's...
  19. Rolf68

    Alignment knocked out of whack...

I'm not sure the plate was effectively raised. I think it's just the "L" shaped metal part that is not wide enough to handle the new suspension, and you just need to remove this part and do something to be able to safely screw the whole thing again. Too bad I don't have a picture taken before...
  20. Rolf68

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

The high part does not fit in the original "L" metal part, it's too wide yes. There is no such a piece on the passenger side so no problem to switch the suspension there.

Initial impressions: Nitron 46mm NTR Race 1-way shocks

Hello. Yes I'm happy with the Nitro Clubsports. They feel a bit different than the Bildstein, but it's hard to describe. But nothing too widely different don't worry. I also use my roadster as daily driver (202237 km yet) and I'm not a track maniac, so I cannot jusdge if those are also made for...

The same. The front are easier to remove because there is no axle going throught them. Kind regards

    Wheel bearing change.

There are only three bolts attaching the wheel bearing to the roadster. I know because I had a very hard time removing them :p The bolts are located in the picture by the 2 arrows and the dot (it's not visible because the extracting tool masks it, so I just marked the place with a ring). You...

You're welcome ;) The reworking of the ABS holder and the complete replacement was made by a local Lotus specialist. It took something like half a day to get the work done. The longest part was to adapt the holder. If I remember correctly, it did cost me about 2700 € (all included, the parts...

Driveer and passenger seat switchable ?

Hello there. I was wondering recently, if it's doable to exchange the driver and passenger seat in the roadster. My driver seat is getting "tired" and would need to be redone by a seat rebuilder. But that would certainly need a week or so, and as it's my daily driver I cannot easily jut let...

    Late Center Vents?

Hello I didn't use degreaser right now (was a bit lazy this weekend to make the third cleaning ;) ) Anyway the alcohol I used to remove the sticky part is 90° alcohol. Here in France we call it "alcool à brûler" . The bottle looks like this (clic to enlarge) and it's used to light fire...

    Late Center Vents?

Oh, here am I back ;) So I took some pictures of the 2 vents as they were after the first alcohol clean. You can see them here : There are some sticky matter remaining, especially in the corners and in the middle of the right vent. This time I cleaned using a paper instead of a cloth...

    Late Center Vents?

Ok, I'll do that too ;) I have just those 2 pictures of the vents from last week when they were sticky. Sorry the quality is not that good because of the poor lighting. Anyway in full size you might see well the "rugged and bumpy" look where the sticky matter was showing. In fact in real it was...

    Late Center Vents?

Hi guys, little update ;) So after seeking a bit on internet, I found how to get rid of this sticky stuff. You have to clean it with 90° alcohol. Simply put the alcohol on a piece of soft cloth and rub the vent. The cloth will turn black as the sticky part goes away. After that I rinced with...

    Late Center Vents?

Very interesting pictures. Look like it should be possible to remove only the vents and the chromed part around... I'll try to have a look inside the vent with an endoscope to see how it's hooked inside. If I can remove it I'll also "chrome delete" that piece as I find the sun reflecting there...

    Late Center Vents?

Having the exact same problem. Did notice this last week when removing some dust inside with a microfiber. Does anyone know how to remove the vent out of the binacle? Instead of buying some news it would be good to wash them with alcohol, and if not enough then simply sand them and put a black...

Help identify these springs & shocks...

I once asked Tesla to install better brake pad than the one they sell, the answer was no, they just install their own references... But well, suspension and brakes won't need any Tesla specific maintenance after all. As long as they do the annual service, clean the PEM and take care of the 100%...

Help identify these springs & shocks...

I confirm, Bilstein can "rebuild" the original suspensions if you prefer. But it means to have the car immobilized for several weeks, and that was not a great option for me. ;)

Help identify these springs & shocks...

Hello Gregd I'm already in the process of buying a complet set of those (one of the last available it sems). It's just that I don't see the relation with the fact that I had to change the suspension first. The rear one was leaking and there is no more Bilstein available. I didn't change the...

Hello here's the direct link to the picture in the thread suggested by Stefan T #1146 DMC Motor Fan Problem?
  48. Rolf68

    PEM overheating, fans not running

Did you check the blower connector (under the PEM, the 4rth one, far right) ? It appears it can degrade with time and even could burn / melt . Maybe it's a cause of the fuse blowing ?

    PEM overheating, fans not running
