2024 Model 3 LR AWD is now eligible for the $7500 tax credit [posted 06/17/2024]

Or even just make an LR RWD like the Y. They could bump the msrp up by 4k and still end up considerably below the old price after the tax credit.

Toolbox 3 Gateway Configuration Edit on Model 3 / Y?

There’s an air suspension config, dunno if they would have repurposed that for the 3’s electronic dampers. Otherwise I’d need to connect to such a car and dig a little to see if there’s any configs that might be the ticket
  4. terranx

Why is the LR Model S sold in the US limited to 130 mph while the same car sold in Europe/Asia has a top speed of 155 mph?

it might be possible by editing the “efficiency package” config, but I’m not sure if that’s a secured config or not. If it is secured, then no real way of raising the limiter without Tesla offering it. I would say either buy a used one or buy a Plaid if the top speed is important to you

    New headlights retrofit

It’s not enabled on US cars with factory matrix headlamps. Not sure if there would be any harm from coding it. For European cars it could be worth considering. I’m not sure of the physical pitch sensors work or not with European matrix cars.

    Adaptive Front Lighting System

It definitely doesn’t do anything when at a standstill from what I can tell. If it is moving while driving, it’s not as noticeable as it was on my BMWs and such, but with it basically being summer now it’s not quite getting dark enough during my commute for me to really get a good sense of it.

    Adaptive Front Lighting System

Sigh, let me dumb this down for you. Several distinct features being discussed which neither you nor @Ostrichsak seem to be capable of differentiating. 1) Auto high beams — this is what all teslas have in the US, and what non matrix cars have in the rest of the world. The car will switch...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

It’s difficult to say how much of that wear occured after the separation. The intact portion still shows a fair amount of tread visible (and if you look at a brand new PS4S, the inner edge is a bit rounded off from the factory). But nonetheless, the pattern is clearly very different from the X...
  13. terranx

    Adaptive Front Lighting System

This is not true for US cars since they don’t have the matrix feature. There is zero reason for cornering lights, which is the feature being discussed, to require auto highbeams. Clearly I know more than you, since you don’t seem to realize there’s a difference between adaptive high beams and AFS.

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

No matter how much you scream otherwise, they are not in fact the same car with the same suspension. You realize the tread shows nearly 0 wear in comparison to the photo you posted right? Despite that, the side wall separated. Here’s a picture with some red circles to make it easier to see...

You haven’t looked very hard then. Many complaints on this forum alone, even more on other discussion groups. But sure, imply I’m a liar just because I’ve driven more teslas than you and think the auto highbeams are awful.

2024 Model 3 LR AWD is now eligible for the $7500 tax credit [posted 06/17/2024]

I imagine mostly people who don’t qualify for the tax credit, but I imagine it’s a relatively small group who don’t qualify for the credit who also wouldn’t just spend the extra money to get the LR anyway. Maybe they’ll eventually replace it with a LR RWD like they did on the Y

No Auto-shift beta or Parking Assist after 2024.14.9

Yeah I have it enabled on mine, but it’s honestly easier to just change the direction on the screen instead of going through the whole song and dance of turning the wheel and hitting the brake pedal Ironically if it wasn’t for one pedal driving it would feel more intuitive.

Did they stop putting matrix headlights in Model Ys in the US?

In the US we get the curve functionality, but don’t get the matrix capability where the highbeams adjust for traffic. Seems like they also made it so the headlights aim a little higher if you’re on a highway for non-US cars. This is the us version of the release note (model S, but should be...

    Adaptive Front Lighting System

Nope, it’s not my car. It’s remarkably consistent behavior across 10+ teslas I’ve driven, S/X, 3/Y, hw3 and 4 alike. Every legacy manufacturer does so much better. S/X don’t force them with autopilot so it wasn’t nearly as annoying as the 3/Y Difference likely comes down to the roads we drive...

    Adaptive Front Lighting System

They constantly turn on and off regardless of traffic conditions. More often than not they’ll blind traffic, but won’t turn on the brights when the road is empty and I actually need them. And unlike virtually every other manufacturer, you can’t override them without disabling the feature...
  23. terranx

    Adaptive Front Lighting System

Because the auto headlights on teslas is perhaps the worst implementation out there and it’s still simple on/off here in the US instead of variable. If you enjoy your highbeams constantly turning on/off regardless of traffic conditions, then perhaps they’re useful. The cornering capability is...

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

I guess it's a good sign for our reliability that we just don't have many examples of this, but I'd be curious to see if Plaids that had their front motors or inverters replaced in 2022 or later have the vibration now. Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Usually it comes down to the specific configuration. Tesla doesn't really build its car to order. They build the various colors in batches and match you to a VIN slated to be produced. Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

3 will feel faster down low for sure. Higher speeds (60ish +) S LR will probably still feel faster. 3 will definitely feel more nimble, not sure which will actually corner better. The S corners surprisingly well, and at least the old 3 reached its cornering limits surprisingly early.

Toolbox 3 Gateway Configuration Edit on Model 3 / Y?

typically you can’t get onto service shell without being locally connected. If they added remote shell capability that’s a big change and hard to say what else could have changed. What is the precise command you’re entering for gw-diag? You’ll get that error if there’s any sort of typo

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Going to vary from car to car. On the old model performance apparently 60-130 was around 13s and 100-200 was around 10s. But it probably wouldn’t be anything close to 3s on the new one
