Adding accent LED lights. Need HELP finding a power switch source.

Hi, I have led accent lighting in my M3 working from the footwell light feed via a small relay board (the footwell feed is too weedy to power the kit properly - blows the soft-fuse) It works brilliantly. There is no reason you couldn't use the same board to take a signal from any 12v cable in...

    Tapping into ambient lighting

Hi, I have done just this - A little circuit board to control the led kit from footwell light feed. Works a treat! Youtube Video 1 Maybe you could build yourself one of these? I have built them for people too, but don't mind at all if you have the skills to copy the circuit. J

Tapping into footwell lights for constant 12V - tripped fuse?

Hi, Sorry for the slow reply, hope you have it sorted now?! We too assumed the leds are dimmed with PWM, but have not put a scope on to confirm. We have not needed to as the switch circuit used has worked flawlessly for 10months now. It did turn off once and I thought it had broken, but I found...

    Upgraded Interior lighting M3... Thoughts?

Morning everyone, Adding to my original basenor light tube kit, I have now put rgb strips in the footwells. There was (luckily) spare solder pads for 12v and rgb in the Basenor controller. I have connected to this, and the new footwells follow the same colour and pattern set for the light tubes...

    Upgraded Interior lighting M3... Thoughts?

Looks like you want some sort of proximity bluetooth switch?! No idea if the board you linked will simply switch on when you phone is in range, or would require an app / interaction to make it work? Also it would not have the ambient light control from the touchscreen (ie go off when the...

    Upgraded Interior lighting M3... Thoughts?

Hi Greg I actually disassembled one of the footwell light modules (easy with a little screwdriver and some careful application of force) and soldered onto the pins in the light before re-assembling it..... - This is a bit above and beyond what I needed to do! In hindsight just a t-tap...

Tapping into footwell lights for constant 12V - tripped fuse?

Hi All, Follow on from my post earlier. I Attach the circuit diagram for this ambient light sensing circuit. This takes a very small amount of power (Max 3mA) form the ambient light positive feed wire and uses it to switch a relay connected to a much bigger 12V supply (i.e. cigarette lighter)...

Tapping into footwell lights for constant 12V - tripped fuse?

Relay was the first attempt... on its own worked when lights were bright, but not enough juice to keep it pulled in when the footwell lights dimmed. (in gear). :( Next attempt involves diode, transistor, cap and relay. Need dad to pin down the finer details of what these colourful components...

Tapping into footwell lights for constant 12V - tripped fuse?

Found a way of taking footwell feed for switching the lights, and using 12v socket power. Small electronic circuit involved but means control these lights via touchscreen, and on and off when car locks/unlocks. Happy to share circuit if people interested Can't take credit - My dad was the...

    Upgraded Interior lighting M3... Thoughts?

Hi all, Coped my post from Tesla Owners Online to here also in case it helps someone - My budget doesn't stretch to an RGB laser, but I recently brought the Basenor 3 light kit rgb leds. After reading all of the posts on here about making these aftermarket light work with the ambient lighting...

Installing the official Tesla model 3 roof rack

Interesting - I bought my M3 rack less then a month ago and the book states 5-6Nm - This feels like a bit too much, and the bolts are almost completely through the wingnuts by this toque - meaning the allen key stared slipping - I think I'll downgrade to 3Nm! Feels sturdy. Does anyone else get...
