So this applies to Model 3 from China in EU (eg Ireland, Sweden). Taxes might be a bit leaky.... incentive is large enough to play games Extra taxes don't apply to Great Britain (not sure about Northern Ireland, Gibraltar). USA-built cars are not affected (different taxes, but if they use...

If one is doing it, multiple probably are. Ray Shefska of Caredge has outlined some ways to tweak figures, have the car being sold to the dealership, then later sold as a used car. Then repeat. Used cars can be greatly discounted.

With Gen 2.5 - I'm hoping any models/platform includes vans. Might not be too far behind. Possibly sets up near-term for many more market niches being served just by Tesla.

NB. in Europe, most new chargers are CCS2 (like CCS1 but better designed/latched - so it's actually fine/reliable). Some non-Tesla chargers will have type 2 or Chademo for older non-CCS2 EVs such as Leaf & Zoe. I'd like to hear from people in the most developed EV charging markets such as...

I agree, but something you wrote jumped out at me. "might as well just buy a boring tracker fund." Depends on the tracker fund index. Russell 2000 barely moved over many years (inflation adjusted, maybe fell?), S&P 500 good, Nasdaq 100 better. Exclude top few tech firms and many of the S&P500...

Over half of Tesla's cars are LFP now. At the point of getting into 4680, Tesla needed to. Since then other car makers have abandoned goals & cells of many different types (and their raw materials) are up for grabs at lower prices. Also, if Tesla did have a 6 year timeline and we're 4 years in -...

I suspect less billions than others.... Elon is from a software background, he knows 9 women don't make a baby in a month. Adding people just adds more network nodes and slows down communication. "No great software was ever written by more than 5 people" - someone, somewhere, some time -...

If it was "simply" (meaning "completely") then it might have been a lie (it wasn't). But having a product under research forces the hands of others. It's a win for the mission even if the product fails. I don't think Tesla 4680 is failing, I think it's developing. I think Tesla is to some...

An extra aspect to shape the "battlefield" / market - bit of Sun Tzu type stuff. Tesla still intend to create awesome & dominating products. It's part of Tesla's way of operating - insurance, EVs in general, hard-core slap downs for product categories to avoid mere compliance or minimal legacy...

They say machining debris. Others say the "machining" happens while the engine runs. Bad design mostly, with bad manufacturing, quality layered with arrogance & Toyoda toadies & yes-men. I'm not sure which explanation is the most true, could be a bit of both.

    Brexit

Seems to be. It's not a quote from Starmer, this (below) is how I've seen it reported (Grauniad) That's a personal commitment. Another Labour leader (especially in a new parliament) could change things. So could a sensible "other" party/coalition led by someone else. I think that this...

    Brexit

EU has plenty on its plate. UK isn't a priority and is seen as a risk. General EU / constituent member thoughts seem to be that it's pointless looking at EU entry unless there is a bi-partisan/general agreement on joining the EU involving main political parties and the general population. UK...

Replacing my wife's car with an EV?

Yes and small cars hold their values better. Big cars always lose loads of money unless they're a collectors' item. Even better if a reliable small automatic as more people take auto-only tests and it's hard to find a reliable small automatic that isn't an EV.
