    Inverter clipping 2023 vs 2024

Something definitely changed with 24.12.3. The drop in max production due to clipping occurred right after 24.12.3 was installed. A little hard to see because it was cloudy on 7/1, but the max production was 7.8kW and on 7/2 (after the update) it maxes at around 7kW.

    Inverter clipping 2023 vs 2024

Anyone else notice a difference in inverter clipping with the latest firmware? Last year, I would clip at 7.8kW and this year I'm clipping around 7.0kW. Wondering if Tesla changed something to not drive the inverters so hard or if it's just so hot this year that they're backing them off a bit...

Connecting to Powerwall3 when Internet is down

NetZero only uses the tedapi when scanning the QR-code. You have to either scan the real QR-code or create one on your own to scan with the existing PW3 credentials (pure JS WiFi QR Code Generator). Logging into the PW3 through the WiFi just connects to the web interface which doesn't exist on...

Connecting to Powerwall3 when Internet is down

Probably want to checkout NetZero App (Netzero) or Powerwall Dashboard (GitHub - jasonacox/Powerwall-Dashboard: Grafana Monitoring Dashboard for Tesla Solar and Powerwall Systems). Both have put a bunch of effort into communicating with PW3 units. The PW3 login credentials are unfortunately...

Good point. I forgot the dash cam only records four of the cameras.

Sudden drop in power production for the second April in a row

String inverters only give you data for the whole string, not each panel. And since it doesn't appear anyone at Tesla actually watches the data, we're pretty much on our own to watch our systems and then convince Tesla there's actually a problem.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

There's also a camera blind-spot between the side cameras and the front camera. I had someone merge into me while I was turning left and I reviewed the camera footage and the car isn't anywhere to be seen until if appears in the front camera.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Yeah noticed this today. You can actually run it in full-screen all the time even when FSD isn't active. If it's full-screen, then the menu will slide it out of the way and go back to full-screen when the menu goes away. I think the only automatic return to non-full screen is when FSD is...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Bringing up any of the menus will shrink it back down to the normal size. It's very disconcerting when using FSD in full-screen mode and the menu shrinks it back down. I believe it will remain in normal size if you bring up the menu when FSD isn't engaged.

    Netzero App

PW3 seem more secure since they hide the password, but with PW+ the password is printed on the cover and it's only five characters anyway. A lot of the devices are located outside and easily accessible. You certainly can lock the covers, but most people aren't going to do that.

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

Did you get an alert in the app that the grid was down? Very unusual for the Gateway breaker to trip. Breakers do go bad sometimes, so also something to have Tesla (or an electrician) check out.

    Netzero App

Yeah they clearly don't want people actually finding out when their systems go down! Or were never installed properly in the first place. I've become an expert troubleshooter with my system. Netzero App

I got it working. Looks like your app makes the decision to use local api or tedapi based on the QR Code button. Someone posted an online QR Code generator so I didn't have to go outside. Created the QR Code, printed it out, scanned it with Netzero and it pulled the tedapi data. Finally able to...

    is this low production?

Agreed. The issue appears to be somewhere on your roof. Everything at your inverters looks as expected based on your strings. Call (877) 961-7652. Option 2 I think. The Powerwall support people are much more responsive than the normal solar people. Tell them you have a whole string...

    Netzero App

I understand why it needs 192.168.91.1, but why does it require the QR code? Shouldn't connecting to the Gateway WiFi and using that IP address work the same way? Or is that just how the logic is coded in the app?
  36. jgleigh

    is this low production?

Very surprised they don't show which panels are hooked into which MPx. Mine is very detailed with panels, expected voltages, and expected currents. Maybe they're getting lazy and not showing the customers the full plans anymore? That being said, correct me if I'm wrong but it appears you should...

    Netzero App

I'll have to try again. I was only seeing one of my two PW+ when connected to the Gateway WiFi like it was using the old local API and not the tedapi. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong on my end or not. I can see the strings on both PW+ when connected through Tesla One. Oh, maybe I...

  39. jgleigh

    is this low production?

@ajdadja Definitely request the Full Plan Set. That'll show how your system is wired and will make it much easier to correlate to the PW+ numbers to see where the issue is.

Tesla power wall in Tesla app. What am I really seeing?

Every house is different. I have a larger house and at night it varies between 0.5-1kW. If everything is off and you're pulling 1.5kW, you're either missing something or the monitoring is confused.
