2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

That makes more sense, especially since those tyre sizes have significantly different rolling diameters while 235/35R20 is pretty close to 275/30R20.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Watching the Autotrader review Rory said something odd about the staggered wheels that I have not been able to gainsay or confirm: He said that the tyres are 235/35R19 at the front and 275/30R20 rear, which is not what I expected at all. Has anyone seen any other concrete data on this or did...

    Chargepoint in Australia (Closed 31/01/2024)

This is not a custom shell by the way, this is just how the new Schneider units are setup. The inside unit can be mounted on a wall, or the upper metal enclosure, which includes a junction box and other hookup hardware can be mounted on a post, or the whole unit with the bottom pillar can be...

Refreshing Model 3 Suspension that has alignment issues

I have a 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance (Fremont manufacture) with 101000 km on it. For at least the last 50000km I have noticed that the alignment tends to slip quicker and quicker, to the point where as an experiment I had an alignment just before Christmas and then another one today, less...

    Charging Adaptors 101

As long as you realise that this will still only charge your car at 32A single phase and that many outback sites will not be happy with you dumping 32A on just one phase of their already-stressed generator. This is why I never really use my UMC, preferring an aftermarket 3-phase instead.

The longest EV charging network in West Australia

So, I thought that I would drop photos of the first three WAEV charge sites when heading in from NT. This is Kununurra. I was the first person to charge here as far as I know. Oddly, the AC charger was not turned on. This is Warmun Roadhouse. The DC was not yet commissioned, but the AC was...

    Supercharger - Calliope, Qld

Possibly, but not really needed. This will be one of the easiest Superchargers in Australia to find. Drive in the main entrance off the Bruce Highway and it is right there.

    Supercharger - Calliope, Qld

Popped in today as I was passing through. Spoke to the workers. Power is on to the site, and charger construction will be finished today. There are some civils to be completed such as an extra slab and some final surfacing.

    Supercharger - Abbotsford, Vic

Visited the charger today after an IKEA trip. The entrance to The Hive is a diabolical rim scraper and very tight indeed. The chargers are on the left pretty much instantly and are in the format of two x two bays back to back.

Please do not post referral links (Australia\NZ Forum)

Is it known whether an existing customer can refer themselves when buying stuff? I did this when I bought my Model 3 back in 2019 since I had already been a Tesla Powerwall customer for a couple of years at the time.

    evse chargers questions

I have had a V2 HPWC with 7m cable working perfectly since late 2019 and don't take particular care of it other than to keep the handle off the ground. I also have a JetCharge BYO unit that I got as part of a grid trial for a few years and it also works perfectly. I don't think that I have ever...

    Charging Adaptors 101

Keep in mind that it is not hard to attach a small tail with whatever plug you have available to a Tesla HPWC which makes it super easy to move it from place to place without needing an electrician to do anything for you. You can also change the tail to 10A, 15A, 32A single or three phase. If...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

True, although it also will limit damage when you run the cable over. Another thing to consider is where the resistance in the cable is concentrated. Poor terminals or termination of the wire leads to the cable melting into a heap as shown by @Candleflame above!

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I got mine (20m long) from EEC and actually bought a 15A extension cable and a 10-15A caravan adapter made by Amphibian. This means that I can confidently use it anywhere and for any purpose and never worry about voltage drop. They use high quality cable with industrial insulation and...

    Evie EV charging networks

It's coming. I agree that Moe is just too close to Melbourne to make a good charging location. Bairnsdale (~280km), Cann River (169km), Narooma (248km), Berry (205km), Sydney (~160km) seems like a pretty easy trip in most Teslas. And if you take some side trips, then you can add in some of the...

    Evie EV charging networks

Bloody legend. Really opens up the area and makes side trips between Cann River and Moe a doddle. Just think how easy travelling in that area will be when we get Orbost and Omeo as well. Weekend fun drive up over Hotham from Bright to Bairnsdale is suddenly easy, not marginal. In a year of so...

    Charge HQ

A better solution would be to have finer resolution scopes available to request and approve that align with the way that the APIs are being used. This way the tokens used could only support the operations that are appropriate. In this case starting and stopping charge, determining current...

The longest EV charging network in West Australia

What is going on in this picture? I assume that the lines are all needing to be remarked, but even then, the bollard on the far left does not seem to line up with the wheelchair ramp and once new lines place vehicles to the left and right of the charging pillars, a large amount of the ramp will...

    Charge HQ

The app provides two options for this. In neither approach will the password of your account (which should be protected with MFA anyway, making a leaked password less critical) is exposed. 1. The default behaviour is that an OAuth flow to the Tesla web-based IdP is used to obtain the tokens...

    Charge HQ

They have recently stopped work on the Growatt integration because of difficulties licensing the APIs or something of that sort, they also stopped work on Enphase as well for the same reason. There is a push API that is under active development for those who are fairly technical. You could...

    Chargepoint in Australia (Closed 31/01/2024)

In my experience, all you need is an RFID card of any sort to charge at a Chargepoint charger. As far as I can tell, the software on the charger reads the RFID and then tries to reach a backend that no longer exists. After a few seconds the API call fails, and the charger defaults to allow the...

Victoria Destination Charging Across Victoria Program

CTR is a Vic Government thing really so there is no reason why we can't have multiple charging providers. It was just that Evie got most of the contracts because Chargefox is not interested in building a charging network, just in being a billing company. These East Gippsland chargers are owned...

Alternatively, they might be over-specifying a press for Model 3 Highland redesign work so that later they can make larger castings for other vehicles, e.g. One piece floorpan for a "Model 2".

Does TAAC use regenerative braking when decelerating?

I think that an update in the last 12 months actually increased regen on TACC to levels above the normal levels that we get when driving manually. Possibly even to the levels you get in Track Mode. Certainly pretty harsh at times.

Victoria Destination Charging Across Victoria Program

Have we confirmed that the East Gippsland Council chargers are using Evie for billing? I mean it makes sense, but there are literally no Evie symbols on the Tritium units, nor are there any QR codes or any other sort of hint on how these are going to be used. Very curious.

Victoria Destination Charging Across Victoria Program

I have charged in a lot of country towns and always have great conversations with people. Most people who express a negative opinion are just reflecting what they have been told so it does not take much to turn them around. Taking the negative person for a quick spin is of course the best way...

Supercharger - Melbourne (Box Hill), Vic

I don't think that this is intended to be a transport-based Supercharger. There are a lot of apartment blocks and rental units that don't necessarily have access to any sort of power where vehicles are parked around here. This station allows several suburbs worth of people to buy a Tesla that...

Download Hourly Energy Data from Powerwall

I suspect that the app function is currently broken on the Android app since it works OK on my iPhone. As OP stated, data is in kW, one can only hope that it is average kW over that time period, not instantaneous kW otherwise it is completely useless.

I just called the East Gippsland council and spoke to someone who in turn spoke to the coordinator of the project in their Sustainability team and there will be an update going up on the site which was linked earlier in this thread. In short, there has been another Ausnet-related delay, which...

    Charging Adaptors 101

And you are still single phase, so maxing out at 7kW with an unbalanced load not ideally suited for generator use in truly remote locations. Better off getting a proper 3 phase portable EVSE in the first place.

    Berowra Tennis Club

Even if it is when you are sharing, considering this is a tennis club and your usual visit length will be at least an hour for a game and a bit of a cool down afterwards, 25kW will give a model 3 around 160km of charging. When I was on my recent trip to Uluru, I would have crawled over broken...

Except that you decided to infer that the discounting of Cloncurry results were because of some climate-related conspiracy when the reality is that the measurements were being made using improperly mounted gear. If you want to be righteous, you must first restrict yourself to facts.

    Berowra Tennis Club

Yes and no. My understanding of Superchargers is that they have bugger all in the pillars themselves, with all power electronics in the associated cabinet. They definitely have power sharing though, in units of 3 in Australia at least. While they are delivering DC to the pillar, there is no "DC...

Ground Clearance and Steep Driveways - Tesla 3

I have a Model 3 Performance, so obviously the worst in this respect and to be honest, I don't have a problem with approach and departure angles. I live in an extremely steep and hilly area with stupid road entrances and driveways everywhere. Even driving out my own driveway I have been known to...

While you say that you would not use a PKM150 in a single stall, that is exactly what BP Pulse is doing, at least at their Victorian sites, so that they can easily grow sites as more demand and more chargers become available. Just beef up the number of 950V DC modules in the accompanying cabinet...

    3 Phase Powerwall

And that is probably the only scalable solution really. Even if Tesla made a proper synchronising 3 phase gateway for the PW2, you would still have the problem when islanding that the DC buses are not linked, so if your house were not perfectly in balance, you are going to kill one before the...

    Evie EV charging networks

That just made it more confusing though. The coastal route is the Great Ocean Road, and the "inland route" would normally be the A8, or maybe the A79/A20. I am now inspired to string something together since I have not been to Edenhope before. There is a back route from Ballarat (which has a...

Is Edenhope really on any of the major routes to SA? Don't get me wrong, I am definitely excited about this site and think that every town needs a DC charger, but unless you are driving from Horsham to Robe you are not going through there. Definitely cool though since it opens up an area with...

That is very nice, although obviously using a truckload more expensive copper wire. I thought at first glance that the holster was behind a kerb, but actually the lead in is a simple smooth transition. Supercharger - Cann River, Vic

General accessibility of EV chargers are universally bad, although, looking at these units, they may be better than most. The spots appear to be wider (at least once they are straightened out) and the charging units are not behind a full kerb as they are usually. The non-Tesla charger is...

Not sure, but the installer was the grid guy and was also attending to the site at Bairnsdale so actually contracted to East Gippsland council and working on the grid connection for the non-Tesla chargers I guess. Sorry for vague info. All second hand.
