    Model Y Hardware 4

Well the image quality is better and obviously the hardware is much more powerful as well but less likely we’ll notice any benefits from that in the UK. Still if you plan to own it for a while, why wouldn’t you want it if you can get a car with it on?

Black or white new model 3

This is a UK thread, Stealth Grey is an expensive colour and White is the free one here.

    EU Cybertruck?

Right, as said see if the sales hold up is all.
  4. F

    EU Cybertruck?

Well that’s not a great comparison as not a lot of people actually want a 911 Turbo as their family car ;)
  5. F

    EU Cybertruck?

I mean that’s good but also early pent up demand. We need to see if they can continue to ship lots of them or it’ll fizzle out.

Thinking about getting a Model Y. Some questions please.

I mean you lose money on a PCP or a lease also. In all cases you pay for depreciation, just on finance you have less risk to it because it’s a fixed amount. Of course second hand is going to cut or avoid a lot of the steep depreciation curve so it is cheaper. Just have to accept it’s not the...

    [UK] 2024.26 Software Update

Just connect to Hotspot on your phone and job done. I’ve automated it on mine and my wife’s iPhone so it just does it for us. Though I have Premium but more WiFi barely reaches to driveway so more to download software updates when driving.

    [UK] 2024.26 Software Update

For someone that works from home mostly this won’t benefit me but could be really good for my wife that pops into an office 2 days a week for instance. Work week might be Mon to Fri but doesn’t mean you use your car for those 5 days. Be very nice if they’ve done this well.

Thinking about getting a Model Y. Some questions please.

The Model 3 Highland test cars also had a front bumper camera right up until the end when they removed it. So wouldn’t say for sure it being added to Juniper so will keep my fingers crossed.

Thinking about getting a Model Y. Some questions please.

Just bear in mind when the refreshed Model 3 came out it also hit with a 9.5% APR if you’ll need to finance it. Only once initial demand dropped did they lower the APR so you might end up waiting beyond when they launch it. As others say you want one with the comfort suspension upgrade, before...

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

Only one way to find out, revoke access to all third party apps that have access to your account and see if that stops it.

    [UK] 2024.26 Software Update

Seen some mention the release notes might be wrong however possible it's not quite ready and they are holding it back for another release. I doubt it'll be that far down the road if it has been removed from 2024.26.1. You at least know it's coming.

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

Yes I don't have an issue with the strategy, we know it makes sense and that you need an SUV to pull in the money. It's also a well designed SUV from a styling both exterior and interior and with a lot of tech. They just need to get the software working right which is the final piece of that...

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

Yes both ours did this morning also. So far neither one has got an update before the other, they both have got them the same time.
  15. F

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

Absolutely. By all means give people the option to turn traction control off if they want to hoon around at a track but when it’s on and with public roads, the car should handle its grip and power to keep the driver plus others around you on the road safe. Tesla does this perfectly even with...

Model 3 performance highland 2024 - Winter tyres

Yeah only the Performance but it’s wider at the rear. Probably part of how it gets a faster 0-60.
  17. F

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

Yeah the think is though it's not really a Lotus product. It's made by a Chinese company, in China and a Lotus badge is stuck on it. I don't believe for a minute the crack software developers of Lotus Norfolk had anything to do with writing the software for the Eletre. One of the give aways is...

Model 3 performance highland 2024 - Winter tyres

Guessing the issue is the rears are wider now. You'd think most be some tyres that will fit for colder climates or ones that legally require you to have winter rated tyres in the winter. That or people have to buy new rims with their winters for the moment.

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

My comment was that the Lotus Eletre R isn't great at going in a straight line and just to be careful, that's all. I'm aware this is a one off monster of a car and sad that it's crashed. Hopefully they'll fix it or build another one. I don't want Lotus or Geely to fail, I just want them to up...

    Model 3 Highland Performance

In my case it wasn't in any database before I had to insure it for collection.
  21. F

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

The inability to go in a straight line under WOT is somewhat representative of their other EV customer cars. Just watch some of the YouTube videos on the Eletre R. Almost everyone where they floor it from a standstill can have it fishtailing and also torque steering at the same time. Infact Rory...

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

I expect not to be sold something with quite so many issues. Do I want it to be perfect, no but I won’t accept something as poor as the car I had either. Being a new product does not excuse it from having to work as advertised. I didn’t have a Tesla in the early days so I cannot comment on...

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

I did have one, I just returned it. It’s a forum, I’m allowed to slam it if I want to. If you read my post, it’s also pretty useless with traction control on. It doesn’t work well and I was merely warning people to be careful. Their software is not very good. You can floor the accelerator on a...

    UK FSD Discussion

I imagine they could do it reasonably quickly if they want to. I just don’t think they have the interest in it. Next step is Musk will have them all focused on the Robotaxi so the LHD work in the US is far from done.
  25. F

Considering swapping my M3P for a Lotus Eletre. What will I miss?

Looks like they haven't been able to get the Evija to go straight under full throttle either ;) If you've ordered an Eletre R, be careful when you floor it. The traction control even when on is *sugar*.

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

I think the problem is that if other cars are coming it can move out of the way but it would go onto the wrong side of the road to do that. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think it’s a delayed release but simply that they won’t release this in RHD countries until they’ve done RHD training of the...

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

Yeah seen a few videos and yours also shows that it's actually very good. Good to the point that I might use it sometimes. I'm sure they have a lot of data and video from our RHD cars. However they'd have to dedicate compute to training on it and then a lot of testing. They've spent years and...

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

Ah interesting and makes sense that it would work. Just have to pray Tesla do a bit of RHD training at some point in the not too distant future. However I think as it's tied to the whole FSD stack it's probably years out for us still :(

    Model 3 Highland Performance

I thought the FCA stopped companies selling GAP insurance or is that all sorted now? Check your insurance policy as some will in the first year cover you with back to invoice.

    EU Cybertruck?

That was extremely slow… not a Cyberbeast? My son was there today and saw this. I’ve not seen one in person but he said it was huge which we all know.

    Model 3 Highland Performance

Well the seats in the Highland LR are an improvement from the old Model 3 seats and have cooling also. Just not the extra side bolstering but unless you are really hammering it you don’t need that. Yes no adaptive dampers on the highland LR but if you want more comfort, it has it and a few...

    UK FSD Discussion

Well no because it’s LHD capable only. It’ll probably mean they’ll remove our Autopilot and change it to “Coming Soon”… But joking aside they’ll just leave the old basic AP code .

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Agreed, especially seeing as it can seem rather expensive. I’d not pay for this data as I know I don’t really need to look at it, only use it because it’s free. Thank you for your effort and helping to offer this great solution though.
  35. F

    Model 3 Highland Performance

Just remember for the most part those are Highland improvements so you’d get those on a LR. As you say on a Performance if you accelerate fast quite a bit often, can be an unpleasant feeling. The LR and the 4 second to 60 is kind of about the point where it’s very fast but not likely to make...

    Model 3 Highland Performance

Yeah that’s third parties and their shoddy IT systems sadly. Tesla isn’t doing the finance themselves.
  37. F

    Tesla M3 Highland Long Range

Yes you cannot compare the old Model 3 EPA based range to the new Highland’s EPA range because they made the EPA test harder (And more realistic). The Highland does get better range than the older cars maybe other than the Performance which now has wider wheels. I actually quite often hit or...

    Model 3 Highland Performance

Well Lotus released their car without working Adaptive Matrix Headlights that would blind other road users, the higher end KEF stereo the sub woofers in the car wouldn’t be used, they promised a AR HUD but didn’t deliver it yet and many other issues or missing features. Fisker released their...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Also rarely look at this data but it’s nice to see efficiency and other stats on occasions. Seeing as I have some kit on 24/7 anyway it costs me nothing more to run this and since setting it up I’ve not had to maintain it at all so it’s also zero hassle to leave it running.
  41. F

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Love Proxmox and still have it running but as I’ve got older cannot be arsed spending as much time managing home IT stuff. So have most of my stuff on a high end Qnap as they make it extremely easy and low hassle for the most part, especially as almost everything I run is in a docker container...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

It has conversational memory up to a point so if you’ve asked questions about Tesla earlier it’ll know that was the topic in question.

When Driving Assistance Systems go wrong

Hard to say but I do feel like this is laws forcing cars to have certain capabilities that are somewhat flawed. Yes I guess they must save some accidents and overall be worthwhile but you also have to wonder if they might on the odd occasion cause an accident that wouldn’t have happened. However...

    Model 3 Highland Performance

That’s old legacy cars but not the way the market is going. Lots of them are shipping their new EV’s with features that don’t work or aren’t there yet but promised for later. I suspect we’ll see the legacy brands adopt this approach also because to be competitive they’ll be forced to do so. It’s...

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

GCHQ doesn’t approve ;) But seems quite sensible. I think more the issue is just how well distance based pricing will go down with the public. Even though in a roundabout way tax is on fuel and that fuel allows you to travel a set distance. Go further and you pay more tax. The only difference I...
  46. F

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

All that is technically possible but Tesla don’t issue fines. You’d need a law from UK government forcing all manufacturers to do this at which point I hope we’d all find what little bit of French blood we might have in us and go on a national strike. Joking aside, there’s still no answer on...

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

It does. I’ve seen it do this also.
  48. F

    Model 3 Highland Performance

Yes I agree. Hence why it’s unlikely I’ll end up going that way. Just annoying that Tesla have the great software but we only get a smaller selection of the cars they make and even then with lesser batteries. Refresh the Model S Plaid with steer by wire and hence hopefully solving the RHD issue...

    [UK] 2024.20 Software Update

Yes both our cars are within 1mph of the real GPS speed on the speedo but in an average camera zone if you pin it at 50mph on a cruise it’ll report my average speed is 49mph, same as a GPS. So that’s reporting your real GPS speed. It’s down to the manufacturer how off they set this, Tesla has...
