When to order to get a 2025 Model?

There is no way to predict. Depends entirely on what demand does compared to production/targets. If for some reason sales are better than expected, there won't be any promotions. If sales are weaker than expected, EOY promotions are likely.

    Elon’s political tweets and actions

One stupid post after another, today his target was Taylor Swift. I am not a fan, but his reply to her was inappropriate. It's sad to see people become so wealthy they don't care what anyone else thinks, but Elon has taken that to a new level. I love my MYLR, but I am not sure I'd buy one today...

What is the most technically advanced, somewhat affordable EV, aside from Tesla?

Please share your actual evidence that the Tesla UI has increased accidents. Just the opposite from what I've seen. If you think through function by function instead of a knee jerk reaction, you may find the change isn't that dramatic. I take my eyes off the road less driving my MY than our...

What is the most technically advanced, somewhat affordable EV, aside from Tesla?

I meant as an integrated package, not that each individual component of a Tesla is the best, though some parts may well be. The fact that Teslas are software based is a huge step forward, most legacy automakers realize that, but many car buyers who only see specs and bells and whistles don't...

Blog Musk Thinks SpaceX Can Send Humans to Mars by 2026

Elon's innovation predictions are interesting to follow and some/many come true, but I wouldn't place any bets on his timeline predictions. Has he ever gotten one right (of any significance)?

    Late Adopter

Congrats from another late adopter. We've had 4 hybrids starting in 2007 (2 Toyota, 1 Hyundai, 1 Honda), and finally bought an MYLR last Nov. I was very intrigued long ago when the Model S was introduced, but prices were too high and I was waiting for Tesla to turn a profit (so they'd be around...

What is the most technically advanced, somewhat affordable EV, aside from Tesla?

Then you’re not reading many posts. know plenty of owners who got used to stalkless pretty quickly, and came to prefer it. I don’t know if you have a stalkless Tesla, but a disproportionate number of negative posts come from readers who’ve never tried without stalks - they just “know better”...

Supercharger - Charlotte, NC - Northlake Centre Parkway

I've only used that SC once, and it was the most crowded I've been to, so I haven't been back. Good that it's being expanded based on my one visit. I had a bad experience there when a jerk in a Cybertruck backed in next to me so close I couldn't open my drivers side door - in the rain.

What is the most technically advanced, somewhat affordable EV, aside from Tesla?

As far as I can tell Teslas still have the most advanced EV drivetrains, batteries and software of truly scaled up production models - excluding low volume, very expensive, prototypes and/or vaporware. That’s what I was asking… WADR you have to be joking that GM is in the running in the...

What is the most technically advanced, somewhat affordable EV, aside from Tesla?

I believe Tesla is the most technically advanced, somewhat affordable (less than $100K?) EV on the road, without factoring in FSD. I love my MY, and I bought it for its value, efficiency, charging/infrastucture, OTA updates, software - and secondarily performance (I've never taken it off Chill...

    New Member/Owner

I'd always go with the newer technology, so I'd much rather have the 2020 M3P. It's old enough to have decent build quality, unlike a 2017 M3. It has 2170 batteries instead of 18650s. It should have lower running, repair and maintenance costs than an MS. I like the looks of the MS, but it's...

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

    So… Highland is out…

I’m just wondering if cars with stalks might get the software to quit using the stalks eventually. My MY has stalks, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a stalkless model if I was buying today. It seems most actual owners of stalkless cars are pleasantly surprised- unlike the haters who’ve never...

Could very well be, which might suggest all the current models have too few for ultimate FSD. Time will tell.

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

Doesn’t really matter. Elon hyped the Model 2 for years, even planned to build a factory in Mexico, all came to nothing. Like the roadster 2. 4680, Cybertruck and semi sales aren’t developing as quickly either. There will be a robo taxi one day, could be in a few years, or a few decades.

    Elon’s political tweets and actions

While there are serious differences in what leaders of both parties say, there is much less difference in what they can or will do. It's not at all unusual for a candidate to take a position because it sounds good to voters, knowing full well it'll never get through the legislative branch -...

How about Full Manual Controls AND Full Autonomy in one vehicle?

Not a surprise. Reducing drunk driving brought fatalities down decades ago, but DUI and other long standing causes (speeding, seat belt non use, GVWR mismatches), leveled off and have begun to creep up again. Add a significant increase in distracted driving and fatalities are trending up again...

There’s no universal definition of woke, that’s yours. Kinda like CRT and other deliberately vague terms fringe politicians taunt us with. Most of the electorate doesn’t know what the terms mean either, there are lots of YT videos showing same.
  24. Midpack

    Elon’s political tweets and actions

Maybe, but you’re jumping to conclusions as well. There are more and more alternative EVs every year, at more competitive prices than ever, and Teslas models are all pretty long in the tooth - the M3 refresh notwithstanding. There is no way either of us can say conclusively. I stand by may...

How much are you paying for electricity?

Since we pay a base rate regardless plus a usage rate, charging the MY only adds to usage charge, and that’s just over 7 cents/kWh. All up I’m paying 13.2 cents/kWh in 2024, versus 14.2 cents/kWh in 2023 before I bought the MY. So the Tesla has lowered our rate…;) And BTW I think our rate...

Hilarious. If there’s another car near me in a parking lot I just wait and let them pass, but I guess I’m not in a big hurry. Or you drive in really busy parking lots! Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

Huh? Without a manual clutch, I’ve never owned a car you could shift while it’s moving, why would you? IIRC you can shift to drive from reverse with a Tesla under 5 mph, I did it once and don’t see an advantage over waiting two seconds. Clearly you’re more important than most of us if you’re in...

Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

You don’t need the touchscreen for wipers anymore, button on stalk (or steering wheel), scroll wheels and/or voice commands. I’ve never used the touchscreen for wipers. And the car isn’t moving when you shift…so no big deal. My wife’s car has push button center console shifting so you have to...

Tesla Owners, Let's Talk: Touchscreen vs. Physical Buttons - What's Your Take?

It’s interesting to note most legacy autos have touchscreens, and they’re getting larger and larger with more and more functions. I agree you wouldn’t want to fuss with a touchscreen in heavy traffic (in any car). Fortunately I find I’m able to do 95% of what I need with scroll wheels, voice...

You’d have to know the spec to call BS, it might well be within spec, that’s not your call. It’s an average priced car these days, it’s not a luxury or exotic marque. Ford CEO Discusses The Rapid Evolution of EVs
