Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

"Allow Road Segment Data Analytics" is required to see charging stats. I have nothing else enabled. If you deselect it, the charging stats option disappears from the app. If you re-select it, any charging sessions that happened in between while it was de-selected are permanently gone. It may not...

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

If you want to see charging stats in the app, you'll need to keep "Allow Road Segment Data Analytics" selected. For me, all the others were deselected (I did that when I bought the car), but it still uploaded 1.5TB in one month. However, turning off wifi in the car solved the problem. :)

Check your router. It probably has the info.

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

I have done many tests before, and for me, the app always under-reports the consumed kWh by right around 5%.
  5. F

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

    Yes, crazy, right?
  6. F

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

I think you mean the "road segment sharing" option. That has to be enabled for the charge stats to work in the app. In fact, this is (and always was) the only data sharing option that I have / had enabled. And I still had 1,500GB (yes, 1.5 TB) in uploads this month. I am more and more convinced...

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

If you do that, your charge stats won't update, I think. If you don't care about that, then this is a valid approach, I guess.

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

Believe me, it works. Try it again, follow what I do, see my earlier post. Worst case, send me a private message. We can even chat over the phone. You'll love the feature once you get it to work!

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

OMG. Really? My power bill is actually negative for the month in question, because my Solar system produced more than last year for the month of July, and more than what we used. It will be one of the lowest power bills I ever had.

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

Thanks, that makes sense! I can also report back that the "Charge Stats" in the app update just fine, even with the wifi disconnected. Tried it this morning. If I get informed of updates, and everything else works as before, I will just leave the car disconnected and temporarily connect it to...

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

That seems like a complicated solution. I would give the scheduled departure another try. It has worked for me, since over a year, every time.

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

So I will still get update notifications in the app, even with my home Wi-Fi disconnected in the car, right? Can somebody who did this confirm?
  13. F

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

Trying it out right now, disconnected my Wi-Fi at home. After reading this message, I checked my router settings. My uploads for this months are almost 1.5 TB. Yes, T, as in 1,500GB. Something is off, as that would translate to around 1,500 hours of video uploaded, that's like 60 days worth of...

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

If you turn off wifi in the car (forget the connection), do the "charge stats" in the Tesla app still work, and get updated?
  15. F

Crazy Uploads 500GB+ in a Month

Yeah, this is quite a lot. Is Tesla using your car to let other owners download updates from? That's the only explanation I can come up with that would explain this kind of uploading.

Mountain pass coilovers with 265/50/19 Geminis

Weird, I don't really like the looks of this. Looks like an overloaded suspension to my eyes. But hey, to each their own. If you like it, go for it! The matte black looks cool though ....

Any tire inflators compatible with new 16v Li-Ion battery?

EPAuto 12V DC Portable Air Compressor Pump, Digital Tire Inflator https://a.co/d/hOp524n I bought this one on Amazon. Works just fine. Saved me once, had a slow leak and had to top off the left rear tire 3 times to make it back home. Yes, I have the Li-ion LV battery in my '23 MY.

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

I have set any time of the day, including afteroons and evenings. Works just fine for me. Yes, charging will be done at the earlier of the two times, I've tried it. But since I don't really have different electric rates, I just use the same time for both.

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

We have our MY for a little over a year now, with 14k miles on the odo. I always use scheduled departure, and it has always worked. I am surprised seeing several people report that it doesn't work for them. I enable "Off-peak charge" and set both the departure time and Off-Peak End Time to the...

Yeah, it's pretty messed up, isn't it? Everything was great before they improved it, lol.

The Modern Spare tire doesn't secure in the trunk, or does it?

Are you doing anything to avoid the spare rubbing on the front side of the rear seat?

3 weeks away should I leave plugged in

One reason I could think of for not leaving the car plugged in would be power surges of any kind, like a lightning strike for example. But even a power outage can cause a surge. The longer the car is plugged in, the more likely it would be to be affected by a power surge.

Charge rate at home keeps resetting to max

Fully charged, as in "100% fully charged"?
  24. F

Charge rate at home keeps resetting to max

There were tests done that showed 36A as being the optimum. Don't have the link, you can search here. There are more factors that play into it than just the car being awake.

Charge rate at home keeps resetting to max

I have used scheduled departure from the very beginning, for over a year now, almost exclusively. It always works for me. Seems easier and potentially less error prone than calculating the required start time every day. I think most people who have problems with it probably don't fully...

    ABRP Update - Why?

I already did that, good idea though!

    ABRP Update - Why?

Does anybody know if this change was also made to the premium version?
  28. F

    ABRP Update - Why?

Got the new (5.0) ABRP update, and now when you plan a route with a stop or two, the SOC at the intermediate waypoints is not shown anymore. You need to click on the settings of each waypoint if you want to see it. Why would they do this? Is it a premium version feature only now? I am assuming...

New update yesterday: 2024.14.9, issue with Spotify

Interesting! What little left carrot are you referring to? Do you have a picture maybe, or could you take one? That sounds like a workaround for the time being, if that works. A bandaid, of course, but better than nothing!

New update yesterday: 2024.14.9, issue with Spotify

The list doesn't even look like it's part of the playlist you are actually listening to. It's really weird, and kinda messed up. While I like the rest of the update, I wish I wouldn't have installed it. Not near the car right now, but you wouldn't really see anything in a picture. Just shows the...

    Two year update

Yeah. The more I look at it, the more it looks like a 3. :)
  34. F

    Two year update

That's pretty cool, I didn't know that could be done. I just updated mine. The computer rebooted, but the range estimate (miles) stayed the same with or without the wheel caps.

    Two year update

Pic looks like a MY, and then it says M3? I am confused. 🤔

New update yesterday: 2024.14.9, issue with Spotify

Yeah, I know, hence the "quotes" around the word "issue" in my post. Don't think this makes any difference though. Looking for a solution though, sounds like there isn't one. Can't easily go back to your playlist, it's weird now.

New update yesterday: 2024.14.9, issue with Spotify

Got the update yesterday (2024.14.9), and really like most of it, except one thing. Hoping you guys can help me with this .... Basically, when playing music using spotify, in the past it showed the playlist below the song title and artist in the small window in the bottom left corner of the...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Let me quote again what you actually said: "Tesla laid of 500 people who had a salary over $150M a year" That indicates the salary of those people was $300k on average. Maybe not what you really meant, but it's what you said ....
  40. F

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

You think those 500 people on Tesla's SC team made on AVERAGE $300,000+ each per year? If that's the case, then Tesla will not have big problems finding good people going forward. But I doubt that's really the case.

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

I would tend to disagree. The fuel gauges and miles left on gas cars are not all that accurate from my experience. With precise current over time measurements, combined with idle readings, EVs will get there. Conversion losses and temperature can all be factured in.
  42. F

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

I am sure the car measures the current going in and out, and should be able to make a fairly accurate SoC calculation based on that, combined we the last known resting SoC. No?
  43. F

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Degradation can be reduced, but Tesla won't be able to defy physics.
  44. F

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Yeah. I would also consider this to be a very serious issue. Hoping Tesla will look into this for @gaspi101 and fix it.

Acceleration Boost Not Available on 2024 Models?

I found this post on Reddit. Looks like not all MY LR can get the acceleration boost, and Tesla explained it to this owner by saying the battery he has is at fault. Has anybody else heard about this? This is the kind of thing that can really upset some owners, I can sure see that.

    Strange Wall Connector issue

Are you able to measure the voltage (better yet would be the current) when the heating pad is on, or only on the outlet while being idle? I wonder if that actually causes a droop. One way to do that is a kill-a-watt device, very helpful. Amazon.com Compare the current (power) that the pad draws...

My Experience Taking my Model Y down to 0%

Mine wipe once out of nowhere on a sunny day here and there. The when it starts raining lightly, they won't do anything until I am literally flying blind. Then, at some point, start wiping like I am in a downpour. They don't work for me, lol. A good manual workaround would be great!
