This is ironic and hilarious. https://electrek.co/2024/08/28/tesla-cybertruck-caught-fire-hitting-fire-hydrant-bizarre-crash/ And CT owners are crappy drivers, just like all drivers!

…and anyone can just shatter a window on any other car for access also. https://jalopnik.com/you-can-just-peel-open-a-cybertruck-like-an-orange-1851632772 This is disappointing that the glass isn’t any more secure. It’s because the windows are frameless.

In the picture, it is a part that is guessed to have fallen out of the side mirror of the car. I want to know what the parts in the picture are.

It’s just a glass assembly training tab. It wasn’t retained very well into the plastic frame by its own tab.

EV maker Fisker says it may go out of business

I’m afraid that this deal only delays the inevitable. I guess Tom Tom provides navigation data and then there’s the cellular contract to get any data. Once one of those is turned off, the vehicle is virtually useless. Without open sourcing the software for updates, they’re museum pieces.

    All discussion of Rivian Automotive

I think on the Q2 results call Rivian Reiterated that their path to gross margin positive was on track for the end of 2024 and for net margin positive by the end of 2025. Lots of contract renegotiations for parts along with their production and design improvements have yet to be realized.

Yikes! More repairs and really not cheap!

In other news, it’s absolute total BS that closing the trunk manually or stopping the auto-close in any way damages the vehicle. This is a serious design defect. But there you have it.

Yikes! More repairs and really not cheap!

My dad ran over his snowblower in his own driveway with his car and somehow the insurance company covered the replacement of the snowblower. Not sure if it was car or homeowners. I know he didn’t need to or bother to repair the car. If you have a comprehensive policy, you might be covered...

    ALL CyberTruck discussion

I also call bunk on the premise of this article and the conclusion of the Canadian orderer. We all know that the trucks are shipped to regions. This person who ordered six months previous and then got his invitation to configure only 6 days later might be in an area where there happens to...

The waitlist for a $100K-$120K Cybertruck may have been blown through in six days, but a $60K-80K CT order waitlist will likely take much longer to "blow through". Let's see happens when they are made available.

Did you just buy a Tesla from Hertz Car Rental?

Everyone has their theories on why Hertz cars Are driven hard or driven poorly or abused or not. Not a single data point to back it up. A used car is a used car. Take advantage of the lower price and roll the dice on reliability with or without a warranty. Most of the time, you will...

MYP front inverter event blew pyro fuse for no apparent reason

Fuses don’t blow “for no reason”. A fault can be temporary. It doesn’t mean it won’t come back or it magically healed itself. It could be a combination of a marginal hardware issue along with an edge case in the software and whatever you were doing driving to make it happen. You will...

Replacing mobile charger for the 3rd time.

While the mobile connector you are using may be rated for outside use, it’s probably not properly tested for outside use. Are you in a humid area? That can kill poorly protected electronics in a few short years. Water tight is not humid-tight.

Passenger front window strikes the side of the car when the door is opened quickly: Auto-window lowering a few miliseconds too slow.

Yes. The answer is no. You cannot adjust this. Tesla “could”. Since everything is electronic, tesla could lower the window before it unlatches the door when the button is pressed. I don’t think you would like the delay or how it feels.

    All discussion of Lucid Motors

It’s simple math, but it’s stupid math. Your example is correct. But the fewer cars they sell, the more it costs per car? How much does it cost to sell zero cars? Lucid’s sales are dismally low and worse than Model S or Model X (which Tesla no longer breaks out - I wonder why)...

    All discussion of Lucid Motors

They need it. That’s $2.5B since March. If Lucid has to drain billions from the PIF to survive, I’m all for it. I calculate an ASP of $83792 per vehicle assuming income from no other sources.

Why are these CT's not sold?

I just got an invite for a local demo drive event for the CT. I’ll pass for now. Much like buying a new roof in 2020 vs. getting a model Y, I just bought a new kitchen so no CT for a few years.
  32. CyberShy

Why are these CT's not sold?

For only having sold a few thousand, there are a large number of Deloreans for sale at any given time. Their rarity of sales is not reflected in their lack of availability for purchase. It would seem many owners are either flipping them or were not prepared for the challenges of ownership...

Tesla car that killed Seattle motorcyclist was in ‘Full Self-Driving’ mode, police say

To claim that to avoid a crash would cause a crash is asinine. To claim a false avoidance would cause a crash is just as asinine. This demonstrates that their own software was as unreliable as their own drivers. What was this thread about? Ah, yes. FSD causing avoidable deaths. Seems...

    Wheel rash

It’s all of the above, but you forgot the biggest reason: #0: Tesla rims sit low and proud of the tire. They literally stick out from the tire and are the first thing to hit a straight curb. Everyone hits a curb now and then. Some, more often. Yeah… bad drivers. On an SUV with tall...

Tesla car that killed Seattle motorcyclist was in ‘Full Self-Driving’ mode, police say

10mph? Sounds like it was either braking or already slowed down before the crash. Airbags deploy due to deceleration or door-intrusion (air pressure), not speed. And hitting a motorcycle may not deploy them due to weight differences. But how do they know the speed if they weren't able...
