I stopped by this location and was able to charge (reduced power level). A Tesla person was performing service work on the system today. It looked like about 1/2 of the stations were operating. I observed 4 vehicles charging at the time.

It happens to me on occasion. I imagine just an update on the OVMS module or such. I enter my info in the app again and it comes right back up.

I am interested in migrating/updating my OVMS when this is in production. It seems like most every Roadster in private hands will benefit from this long-term owner-empowering capability. TPMS has been such a challenge and frustration for many.

Well this unit does come with an IR remote. I agree with gregd that it is not desirable use case in the Roadster. I put it in the glovebox, and may never use it, but it is there if I need it. I like my big buttons. :-)

Thanks again for that detail. I am planning to study the OVMS manual again. In particular may later want to get an alarm or notification of the battery voltage dropping below ~12.3 or so. That would be an early warning that it is not charging as it should be. This telemetry is very useful.

Sorry to hear that. Perhaps a salvage unit swap?, though it may be coded to the VIN and/or other control units and not work properly.

Did you ever get it working?

The pins are easy to release at that point, and assembly is easy. I coated the rubber seal with a little rubber protection product (shown) hoping for some insurance there. Put back together it looks and feels like new.

Update: I have some of the work completed to revive the car. The 12V system is operational with a change to the previously used 12V battery up front, and a tap into the fuse box, running a wire from that to the newer larger 12V battery. I have been using the Deltran Battery Tender LiFePO4...

The car does shift properly, "drive" selection works. Errors previously seen have disappeared, as it seems they were only set when battery was used at the APS terminals. Just applying battery power at the brown/black wire returns car to to normal. Plus, I am feeling much better now too. :-)

It looks like I have confirmed the ESS is not providing 12V on that connector pin#1 (at all). So far it seems you are also correct that the car will be normal again (have not driven again yet) with an alternate 12V provided on that wire. I see no indication that this wire is broken or shorted...
