    Coronavirus

The question here is what is the percentage of infected unvacinated people compared to other states. Even if the vaccinate rate would be 80% there would still be 20% of the population that can get the virus and that is still a large number of sick people.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

If I recall correctly the UAW threw the workers of the old NUMMI* plant under the bus - totally abandoned/sacrificed them to get some deal in Detroit. Now no auto worker in Fremont want to have anything to do with the UAW. * That was the Toyota/General Motors joint venture which Tesla bought...

May I suggest that Elon buy 2 republican senators with the left over proceeds of his tax sale. It appears that currently only 2 senators are needed to pass or block any legislation. This way Elon will have total control over almost any US legislation until the next 'election'. 🤷‍♀️

Anyone have experience with Bridgestone Quiettrack tires

Got Qiettrack on my Model 3, so far ~~ 6000 miles. About same efficiency as the original Michelins that came with the car. I had another set of tires inbetween that gave me about a 5% lower efficiency. The most striking thing about them is how much quieter they are. My Model 3 is an early one...

    Wiki Butt dialing FSD purchase

Happened to me. All of a sudden there was an $11,000 charge on my credit card from Tesla. I had no idea how this came about. Nobody else uses my cell phone and to butt dial that purchase is about as likely as Elon getting to Mars by tomorrow evening. I'm suspicious that that 'butt dialing' was...

2012 Model S P85 Battery Replacement Receipt - sharing is caring

$22,000 for a new battery - way more expensive than driving an ICE ? There is one cost nobody her has mentioned yet: the damage caused by the CO2 from the ICE (health, climate catastrophe, air pollution damage . . .). The only study on this I saw so far (and I can't find the link any more) put...

Yellen's idea to tax unrealized capital gains

What about taxing every financial transaction with something like 1/100 of 1%? Deducted by the broker at the time of the transaction. You sell $10,000 of stock and you pay $1 in taxes, you buy some other stock with that $10,000 and you pay another $1 in taxes.

" . . . it is the Tegra daughterboard that Tesla charges $120 for. Total cost, including labor, is closer to $400." Wait a minute. If Tesla sells the daughterboard for $120 it should cost them somewhere between $12 and $60. Normal mark-up for parts between manufacturing and end user are 100% or...

True, but the Mission of Tesla (Accelerate Sustainable Energy) will be advanced considerably faster than under Moscow Mitch's rule. And that is why I hold TSLA and drive Teslas. All that money does me no good on an overheated planet.

No wonder Elon is anxious to get Tesla Semi production ramped up

Smog is the stuff that comes mainly out of the tailpipe of ICE vehicles. So, if there is anything coming out of the tailpipes of your trucks it is smog. So, yes these truck, no matter how 'clean' their exhaust is, they produce some smog.

..but we spend very little to stop this.. Really? Although I have no data to support my inkling here, but I think that the amount of money spent on an ongoing base to reduce traffic injuries and death far exceeds whatever is, has been, and will be spent on Covid-19; probably including the...

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

I don't have any Autopilot or Self Driving at all. So I guess it would not be turned on. Other than that I did not turn anything off on the car that is normally on, although I have Sentry Mode off in my garage. :)

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

Narrowed it down somewhat - the sustaining wattage is somewhere near 250W. I ran our refrigerator and some minor appliances for 7 hours using 245W - the battery got down to 12.0V after 4 hours and stayed there. :)

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

Addendum to the above post: Did some experimenting - - the 12V battery looses power continuously if I use 600 Watts  - so the on board charger is supplying less that that. It is fine with a 200 Watt load. So its capacity is somewhere in-between :D

    Owner experience regarding interior noises?

On my early model (VIN ..05641 - 28,000 miles) there are no rattles or squeaks but the tire noise on rough surfaces is awful. I'm also suspicious that many people confuse tire noise with wind noise. Tire noise changes with the road surface, wind does not.

"Musk says Tesla will be out of money in 10 months without ‘hardcore’ changes" That 'quote' is actually a lie. Musk did not say that at all. What he said was that $2 billion in raised capital is really not that much money because that is what they are spending in 10 months (at that time, May...

Another front suspension control arm failure

Is there any incident where any of these suspect suspension parts actually let go at higher speed, lets say above 40mph? Tesla M3 Cabin Noise

Tire noise depends on the road surface. My Model 3 (early version VIN ...05641) was unbearably / headache noisy on rough asphalt roads. Best 19 tires replacement

Everybody here blames the weight of the car in the tire's longevity. I used to drive a Lexus LX450 - 1000lb heavier than the Tesla S but I had no trouble getting 50 - 60,000 miles on a set of tires. I got 20,000 miles on a set of Goodyears on the Tesla. No Model 3 battery fires!

According to Goooooooogle as of May 17, 2018: It says the 300,000 Teslas on the road have been driven a total of 7.5 billion miles, and about 40 fires have been reported. That works out to five fires for every billion miles traveled, compared to a rate of 55 fires per billion miles traveled in...
