    Tripling Supercharger Network: Any plan?

Also, call AMC, Cenamark, State/Local/Federal parks, etc... Wouldn't even have to put in 72kW chargers. Even a 50kW DC system would charge a car in 2-3 hours. Perfect amount of time for a movie or a hike.

    J1772 maximum charge speed

I asked if anyone USED one not what the max amperage was. Google tells me that's a yes or no question, smart guy.

    J1772 maximum charge speed

I read somewhere that L2 J1772 charging maximum theoretical speed is almost 20 kW, every time I've used one, it always maxes out at 6kw. Has anyone used a L2 that charges more than that? I get that you can't do the full 20kW because the on board charge maxes out at 12kW, but.... 6kW...

    Tripling Supercharger Network: Any plan?

So, gonna triple superchargers in the coming years, eh? Did Elon mention a plan or strategy? Is he going to try fill gaps (For god's sake build one in Branson, MO)? Is he going to build more urban superchargers for people in apartments? Is he going to fill in travel destinations so there's...

    Boone County Fairground

I was curious... has anyone charged at the Boone County Fairgrounds (Just south of Thomas Atkins Memorial Park and Cottonwoods RV park)? I took a drive through there today. Looks like it's set up for huge travel/RV-type events, but there were what looked like 100 RV-type electrical setups...

Anyone switching to a Rivian R1T after watching reviews?

That's also not driving. Just sitting there not interacting in the process of driving is the opposite of driving.

Anyone switching to a Rivian R1T after watching reviews?

I've not driven a vehicle with a yoke, but it just seems like an incredibly stupid gimmick. Reducing 720 (or whatever) degrees of twist lock to lock into only 180 (I'm guessing without arms crossing)... you'll lose precision or predictability. If it's more than 180 degrees.... Every...

Would you buy an Apple Car?

Maybe they'll put the charge plug underneath the car like they do with their computer mice. Or charge $90,000 for the car but $20,000 for the iWheels like they did the mac pro display.

Wiki How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

Same. I charge off a 120v so I plug in every night and it's still not a big deal. I also plug in my cellphone and laptop every night. ...and I hear you on gas stations. For some reason, it's always a coin flip if the gas station will take my card or not. Also, I live in a nice area, but...

Article on costs of EV compared to ICE

Same. I use a 120 also. takes about 20 seconds to get out the cable and plug in. 20 seconds to take it out when I leave in the morning, and electricity is only 7c/kW.

Wiki How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

Once my parents drove my M3, they said they bought their last Cadillac and had a MY in their driveway 2 months later. The only advantage ICE cars have is speed of refueling. So yeah, get one for your cannonball run. Otherwise, EV is always the way to go.

Ford on looks, Tesla on literally everything else. Ford's dealer network is a hindrance, if anything. Terrible markups. ...and I've traditional dealer service experiences have been awful. I had to get my M3 mileage checked so I went to a legacy dealership. Literally 5 people sitting around...

Which map layout do you prefer to use?

I usually use North Up mode while driving, but I was playing around in navigation views and started using what I call Compass mode (arrow always up). It has a lot of advantages that North Up doesn't: the way the map tilts on Compass mode makes seeing distances on the map much easier at a...

    Wired Internet at Superchargers?

Even in some Missouri SCs, I've seen lines. It's rare out here, and usually doesn't last very long, but it happens. Would also be great for SCs with bad data connections. The LTE at the Springfield, MO supercharger station is borderline nonfunctional every time I've been there.

I feel terrible for GM Bolt owners as a former Volt owner

Remember when GM said basically said Tesla is nobody "The big boys are coming" when it comes to EVs? Now they're asking their cars to social distance because they're too dangerous. lol

    Wired Internet at Superchargers?

I think I read EM say that internet was coming to all superchargers. Is there a chance that the internet will be wired through the SC cable? Or is Tesla buying a bunch of Belkin routers for all the SCs? Do we know? :)

5000 Mile Road Trip Lessons Learned (Tesla Road Tripping for Dummies)

I also found that the bottom 50% has more effective range than the top 50%. I'm guessing due to lack of regen braking? On highway, I can get 120 miles out of the bottom 50%, and maybe 60-70 miles out of the top 50%.

5000 Mile Road Trip Lessons Learned (Tesla Road Tripping for Dummies)

2018 M3 LR+ with 60,000 miles and 19" wheels. 100% SoC shows range of 285 miles. If I did 55mph on the freeway (like I had to before I had supercharging set up), I can get close to one actual mile per one stated mile. 80mph on the highway, I might get 180 miles from 100 to 0 SoC. Since...

Bright truck headlights in my eyeballs

Fair point on the smart headlight issue. I agree 100%. I don't blame the owners as much as I blame the manufacturers. Headlights have constantly been been getting brighter and brighter over the years, and there's no reason why LOW BEAMS need to be so bright like in the picture I posted...

    Battery preconditioning while navigating...

I've noticed the same thing. It's weird. Also, although navigating to the supercharger, it won't catch that I've arrived and it'll give me the "navigate to SC for faster charging" warning, even though I did. It'll also sometimes tell me that I have enough range to get to my next...

Decaying Level 2 public charging infrastructure

The charge port on my Tesla isn't a J1772. Is yours? ...and I carry a 14-50 everywhere I go. It takes up about half the size of a lunch box and weighs a pound. carrying it around for free juice at a grocery pays for itself the first charge.

I really really hate to be petty, but I think that's the only way for people to learn. Put similarly bright headlights on facing backward on the roof of my car. If anyone complains, then "Hey, it's just headlights." Yeah-yeah, I know it wouldn't fly because if they're on top of my car and...

Bright truck headlights in my eyeballs

They work, just not enough for those awful lights! It seems like the consensus is not to use 5%. I wouldn't get 5% all over, just on the back windshield for those trucks at stop lights and on the highway. CycPeds would still be able to see me through the sides and front.
