Who needs a roadster when you have model s plaid?

The question I have is: which one will be available first? My bet is it’ll be the Model S. They would never want to release an inferior Roadster and as it seems little progress has been made (zero announcements whatsoever) I guess they’ll “upgrade” the Roadster design with the new battery. And...

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

The fact that the media window keeps coming up on the console screen at power-up! I think it’s ugly and don’t want it polluting the screen/map (which I *do* like). Why can’t the SW simply remember the last windows config?

    Mildly worried about the deposit

I'm curious. At just 200.000-250.000 and low volumes (sports cars == impractical) why do you believe the Roadster will be very profitable? My feeling is there's not much money in it for Tesla (other than marketing value, which they're actually already enjoying today - long before introduction).

    Mildly worried about the deposit

Personally, I'm not so worried about my deposit. Although of course you'll never know, my gamble is that if Tesla is forced to sell the shop, it may go for a (relatively!) cheap price, but the buyer will take on the liabilities. I *am* worried about what this means for the Roadster development...

When do you expect the first deliveries of the 2020 Roadster?

Really hope you’re right and I’m being overly pessimistic. Especially as I don’t really have a plan B... That’s a big part of the reason that my reservation and hopes are still with Tesla. I would hate to take the refund only to see Tesla making a big splash a week later... Would love for...

Will you put a personalized license plate on your 2020 Roadster ?

2LTL2LT. Ok, sorry ... let’s change it to: FUNTSTC :)
  9. G

When do you expect the first deliveries of the 2020 Roadster?

Yes. And the fact that they’re not (or: no longer) sharing excitement really takes a lot of the “engineering fun” out. So far, Tesla hasn’t made *any* type of gesture towards early reservation holders who they used to treat as some of their most valuable resources. Truth of the matter is that...

    Getting refund for roadster reservation

I’m in the same boat. I also think it will not be 2020 but more likely 2021. 2020 is just 9 months away and I just don’t see Tesla giving this any priority. And as initial production will be very slow it will take significant time for the signature deliveries to be made first. That may bring us...

Model Y unveiling event 2019-03-14 (official thread)

Was it just me or was I do only one who initially thought they made a practical joke driving another Model-3 on stage?;) Nice to see the pics on the web-site now though! Presentation was underwhelming but the car looks nice! :)
  12. G

    2020 Roadster @ Supercharger V3 or Model Y Launch

Very disappointed about the event from my side. Of course it "showed" but was promptly put on the side of the stage. No update on the delivery schedule whatsoever (unless I missed it?). That likely means it's behind schedule unfortunately. 2020 is just around the corner, so they should...

    No longer on website?

Yes, it’s back! They’ve put a menu back at the top of the home page. With a direct link to the Roadster. This is great news.
  14. G

    No longer on website?

I’m not sure how stopping promotion of the Roadster would help profitability. Note that the Semi is still prominently featured through a link in the main menu. The Roadster has been demoted to a hard to find link at the bottom of the page though. I’m not saying it’s malicious intent. But it...
  15. G

    No longer on website?

Hope you’re right. It’s at least good to know the Semi pages went missing also. I’m worried/surprised though. I feel Tesla is not doing much to keep the reservation holders “warm”. Many folks have a lot of money riding on “anticipation”. If Tesla doesn’t “fuel” that I fear people may bail out...
  16. G

    No longer on website?

So it’s still there but they’re no longer linking to it? Or did I just not look closely enough? In any case, it’s good to know at least the page still exists.
  17. G

    No longer on website?

I noticed the Tesla website doesn’t show anything on the Roadster anymore. Did they decide to stop selling it?

    Lambo CEO can't imagine e-supercars

I’m NOT saying Lamborghini is dead. I like Lamborghini’s! They’ve got A LOT of character which I think will be very challenging for Tesla to match/exceed. I’m just saying that that I don’t consider Lamborghini’s “supercars” anymore. Not even the (upcoming) hybrid ones. By my definition, any car...

Nope. Too expensive. No money left.

    Lambo CEO can't imagine e-supercars

I think more and more enthusiasts will agree that any toxic exhaust fumes spitting car by definition cannot be considered a “supercar” any longer... But either way... even if you take his definition of a supercar: “Reggiani added that these specifications would be a speed of “more than 300 km/h...

Blog Tesla: Autopilot Was Activated During Fatal Model X Crash

Not only did this driver try to kill the occupants. He grossly endangered the lives of other drivers on the freeway as well by coming to a complete stop! If this was to prove a point it came at a high risk to others.

This is not a rant , this is a friendly note to future Norwegian Tesla owners.

Sorry to hear. Would have been nice if "Musk" could have learned more from your company. Perhaps that's part of the problem here? Many people personify Tesla into Elon Musk (and hence treat Tesla as one of his "Mickey Mice"o_O). The reality of course is that Tesla Inc. has become (or at least...

This is not a rant , this is a friendly note to future Norwegian Tesla owners.

I'm curious: which company do you work for? I think this would be interesting to know as it sounds Tesla (or specifically "Musk" as you refer to their CEO) can really learn from them!
  24. G

This is not a rant , this is a friendly note to future Norwegian Tesla owners.

So I'm guessing perhaps "European laziness" may play a factor in the negative experiences OP had with service centers in Norway? :p :p Note: this comes from a "lazy European" engineer who's lived in America for about 20 years now building "American quality" products and who some would...

    Why Tesla Will Fail

I was interested to read your post based on the title. However, then you used the word: “idiots” in the 2nd paragraph and immediately lost all credibility.

    Supercharger - Cupertino, CA (LIVE 28 Mar 2018, 10 V2 stalls)

That must be the funniest post I’ve seen on this site. :D:D:D
  27. G

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

I hate that when I floor it my cell phone starts flying through the car landing in the back seat... ;)
  28. G

silly question maybe but....Isnt 1.9 sec kind of harmful?

Perhaps you can ask Tesla to undo the uncorking?
  29. G

    Handling: prepare to be surprised

I think you’re absolutely right. Torque steering is going to make a huge difference. Thanks for alleviating some of my concerns on handling. Now I want the car even more! Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet? :)

Shocked by the new Roadster rolling out of the Tesla Semi!

Kickstarter payments do not typically pay interest do they? Nor are they 100% refundable? Of course, it's a lot more money but that's a relative thing. A homeless person will probably call anyone who buys a Tesla (any kind) crazy... Tesla positions it more like a "reservation" fee. You buy a...

How to justify buying the new Roadster

Easy: think how empty your life would be without one!
  32. G

Oh my. Oh. My. Gawwdddd!! Roadster yum - must have now!!!

Yeah, weight is my concern also. Probably it'll be less than double, and I suspect a lot of the weight will be integral to the chassis, but still. It seems to me Tesla still wants to push the capacity much higher than what's available today to alleviate range and charge-times concerns of current...

Supercharger - Burbank, CA (Service Center, no longer on nav map)

    6) if tesla would post supercharger wait times, I could have avoided Burbank with it's pittyful charger infrastructure altogether...
  34. G

Supercharger - Burbank, CA (Service Center, no longer on nav map)

    1) you're not being reasonable. I waited an hour for my spot! It would be silly to then just charge 15-20min (given the very low charge rate) just to get to Tejon Ranch! 2) Tejon Ranch is undergoing maintenance/upgrades and has a warning on Tela's site!!! 3) You are penalizing the wrong person...
  35. G

Supercharger - Burbank, CA (Service Center, no longer on nav map)

I simply do not want to risk having to wait another hour again for a stall to become available. Now that I am finally connected to a charger I'm going all the way full despite the tapering off of the charge current. With such long wait times, it's better to minimize the number of charging...
  36. G

Supercharger - Burbank, CA (Service Center, no longer on nav map)

Barely gaining 130miles/hr. Looks like I'll be here a while as I need to top off to reach Harris Ranch. Not sure why Tesla thought it was a good idea to just put 6 chargers in this place? Perhaps I should look into this ChaDeMo thing?
  37. G

Supercharger - Burbank, CA (Service Center, no longer on nav map)

Mon 1:30. 6-car deep wait as I'm on my way from San Diego to San Jose. I have no choice but to wait... This doesn't work. Avoid!!!
  38. G

Supercharger - San Juan Capistrano, CA (7 V2 stalls)

Still getting only 60miles/hr even though the paired stall is now vacated. Moved my car from 3B to 1A. Much better! Now getting 175miles/hr.
  39. G

Supercharger - San Juan Capistrano, CA (7 V2 stalls)

Saturday night. 9pm. Took the last available charger. What's with the charge current here? I'm barely gaining 60miles/hr...

    Any owners with big dogs?

12yr old 73lbs Labrador retriever @ Arastradero supercharger. Note the ramp. Works almost as well as with my old X5. Would recommend the rear liftgate sunshade (see Tesla web-site) though. It can get hot in the back under direct sunlight.

    Maps Update

Got one today also. Also my first one. My car is a March '15 delivery. Immediate tried it on my way to work and indeed noticed that a definite maps bug (The Nav telling me to make a right turn where the road is simply going straight) has been fixed. Made me happy...

Supercharger - Tejon Ranch, CA (expanded to 24 V2 stalls)

Busy here yesterday (day after Christmas)! When I arrived at around 3pm I was #8 in line waiting. The line grew to 14 (!!) in the next 30 min or so. I was up to start charging after about 1hr 10min. We really need Buttonwillow... Pic shows the waiting line. Tesla's as far as the eye can see...

    Supercharger - Seaside / Monterey, CA (6 V2 stalls)

    Supercharger - Seaside / Monterey, CA (6 V2 stalls)

Thanks much! Very nice! Can't wait to visit Monterey again. Haven't been there in quite a while.

Supercharger - Dublin, CA - Amador Plaza (LIVE, 16 V2 stalls, expansion in progress May 2021)

Visited this afternoon. Looks like good progress is being made. Nice location. Well accessible from either 580 or 680. Bring your own sandwich and coffee though... I didn't look around but I don't think there's much to do/eat. Looks like there will be 10 stalls total. 2 on the side...

    Press Conference July 17

At this point in time, Tesla is clear that the upgrade will be offered to 85kWh cars. The fact that we do not know whether an upgrade for 40/60/70 kWh cars will be available has nothing to do with bad communication. Tesla may simply not know themselves yet, or know but not be ready to tell us...
