    M3P?

I see the OP has made a decision, but I'll leave this here for anyone else considering their options. I've had my M3P for almost 2 years and still love it. The way I justified it was that I hadn't had a car for 16 years (living in Singapore) and the cars with similar performance (BMW M3) were...

    Is this battery performance normal?

Just an idea... How about someone with the same car specifications offers to do a range test with @M3OZ? Charge to 100% and use the same HVAC settings, tyre pressures, etc. They can even take turns at the lead to average out any impact on following another car.

Queensland - Labelling requirements for Electric Vehicles

I received the same email and ordered through the link. It's a weird ordering process, but it did complete with a confirmation email. You need to scroll down the list of all products, find the label, enter 1 in the quantity, then proceed from the bottom of the page by hitting confirm order. That...

    DAB is here

I have a similar experience on the Gold Coast with black spots for DAB in my M3. I don't use it because it ruins the listening experience making it useless for me. I've never had DAB before, so don't have another car to compare the experience.

    Interesting driving stats thread

I thought that seemed a bit high when I read it, so I did a test last week when I had to leave my car at the airport. My car is a Model 3 Performance, 1 year, 3 months old and I turned off Cabin Overheat Protection when I parked it. I arrived on Monday at 10:00 am with 65% and returned on...

    Interesting driving stats thread

@Flatbat not sure you want to show that maximum speed on a public forum? :) Fantastic information! Has anyone actually graphed out what the real world consumption is for the different Tesla cars at say 90, 100 and 110 km/h? I don't use any of the data services, but I suspect they could provide...

    M3P Bumper Repair?

Wife wasn't in the Tesla, she's not allowed to drive it :). She backed into my car while in hers. Anyway, the repair shop looked at the damage and said they will repair it instead of replacing the bumper. The bumper was more expensive than we originally thought; around $800 instead of $500. If...

    M3P Bumper Repair?

I dropped into Tesla, Southport today and one of the service chaps said that bumpers are not that expensive. @EcoCloudIT, thanks for the advice, that lines up with what Tesla is saying. I'll give the nominated repair shop a call tomorrow and see what they say. @Candleflame the Tesla service chap...

    M3P Bumper Repair?

The wife had a wrong pedal moment and backed into my car. I'm wondering what the best approach is going to be here, e.g. take it to a Telsa nominated repair shop, use any recommended repair shop, get those bumper repair chaps to come out and fix it?

    Interesting driving stats thread

Excellent stats! How much extra weight, @Vostok? E.g. my trip had 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 car seat, plus the boot and frunk packed. I estimated that was about about 130 kg extra (not including me).

    Interesting driving stats thread

I'm not sure where you are driving Cafz, but in country towns I can tell you not a single person I was behind waited until the sign to start accelerating. It may well be irrational and asking for a ticket, but it's how the overwhelming majority drive.

    Interesting driving stats thread

That works when using TACC, but with Autopilot on you can't go above the predetermined limit you've set, e.g. 62 km/h for a 60 km/h zone. I agree it's unlikely to change. No one tooted in anger and they can't keep up once it starts accelerating anyway ;). Interesting. I'll have to look at the...

    Interesting driving stats thread

I left for Kyabram (VIC) from the Gold Coast on the 19th of Dec and arrived back on the 29th. Our trip was rushed to get to the VIC border to save Xmas (6 yo would have been devastated, as all presents were at my sister's place) and then back to QLD to avoid any possibility of getting stuck in...

Gold Coast Sales and Service Centre.

I dropped in today to ask about a tyre/wheel problem. Unfortunately the service chaps were busy catching up after the Xmas break, so I had to go to Bob Jane T-mart. The sales person was friendly and helpful though. I also spent some time with a prospective buyer to provide an owners input to his...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It looks like I had the combo plug option turned off in PlugShare and missed all those. Not a member though, so will have to figure out if/how I can use them. The Tesla ones were fine anyway, as we needed a break and a snack.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Completed Dubbo to Kyabram, crossing the Victoria border at Wodonga (about 40 mins delay through the town rather than on highway, but could have been quicker as some roads were closed). Phantom braking on curving rises when cars are coming the opposite way is still a problem. Also, I had a...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I'm on 48.10 and just did Gold Coast to Dubbo (avoiding Sydney on the way to Victoria) via a stay at Kempsey. Anyway, I haven't been on a road trip in ages and noticed that my M3P was a bit jittery near some exits. When moving along at 100 km/h it's a bit disconcerting. Otherwise the trip has...

SA, Vic and NSW proposed EV road user charge

Singapore has been working on GPS based road pricing for years to replace their gantry based Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system. It will be implemented next year. I'm sure governments the world over will be watching VERY closely. S'pore implementing next-generation ERP system in 2021

    M3P smelly aircon

My Model 3 is almost a year old and started to have a strange smell through the A/C about a month ago. However, it's not consistent. That is, it can be quite bad one day and then absolutely fine for a number of days. Sometimes it's mild and clears quickly. @Zlat what is the $380 for? Just...

What a Biden presidency will mean for EVs, renewable energy and Tesla

Perhaps it's a misunderstanding on my part. I thought the forum was supposed to be apolitical. When someone states "We wake this morning with wonderful news..." then that implied to me that everyone is happy. I think there are 70M+ Americans that are feeling a bit down about the result, thus...

What Charger to Buy - Tesla, Zappi, Other?

Thanks for all the replies and great info. I got quite excited about this, but they only seem to sell single phase products and I don't have the knowledge to build some of the 3-phase solutions I found. I can do software, but not the hardware :). I'm amazed that you don't have enough solar...

What Charger to Buy - Tesla, Zappi, Other?

I've been living without home charging since purchasing my M3P+ in December last year. I'm renting in an apartment complex that doesn't have anywhere to charge. The Tesla Wall Connector that I received with my car is installed at my parents place. That's allowed me to use that charger when...

Gold Coast Sales and Service Centre.

I popped in today for a quick chat and there were a couple of nice chaps that had come down from Brisbane. They said it will be much bigger than Brisbane with the service centre having 4 hoists. Charging on site will not be for public use. They said about 6 week's for the basic fit out. I asked...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I really don't understand these options in the app. Enhanced Autopilot @ $5,100.00 looks effectively like what I could have had if I paid the full amount when I got my car in Dec. 2019. However, Full Self-Driving Capability @ $10,100.00 mentions Navigate on Autopilot, omits Auto Lane Change...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I was driving to Brisbane yesterday on the M1 and had a very hard phantom braking event that I couldn't even guess what it was for. It was cloudy at that moment, so there were no shadows, nothing overhead either. It was so bad that it woke my wife up. Luckily there was no one behind me. A very...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

When I was downloading 2020.28.6 I noticed some strange behaviour with the progress bar. I thought it had finished and then noticed it has started over again. Then it went back and forth between where I guess it was actually at and 100%. You can see this in the video below. I don't normally pay...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I updated to 2020.20.17 before I started on a road trip to Tin Can Bay and Bundaberg from the Gold Coast. I still had a couple of phantom breaking events on the M1, with one that scared the hell out of me as another driver was following quite close behind. Roadworks with diversions or new...

    Sentry mode

I've been running Ext4 for the videos and FAT for music. The only problem I've had is that when I start the car there is sometimes (1 in 10 trips) an error that the drive is corrupt. I just take the USB cable out and put it back in again and all is good. Today I tried to download 2020.12.5, but...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I downloaded 20.8.3 today while I was driving to my doctor's clinic (not the virus :) ). I installed the update while inside and then drove home on it. I decided to turn on Autopilot and as soon as it got to a sweeping corner with oncoming traffic it braked. Turned it off and sighed. No issues...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Hopefully they have fixed the Bluetooth with 2020.12. I had a conference call today using an app on my phone and it would constantly connect and disconnect to the car. That caused the audio to come from the car, then go to the phone, then back to the car, repeat every 10 seconds or so. It was...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I received the update yesterday and drove to Brisbane and back from the Gold Coast today. One of the best improvements I noticed was that when you engage Autopilot that it gently moves to its preferred position in the lane. Previously it would jerk to where it wanted to be quite quickly. I had...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

That makes my little incident in suburbs of the Gold Coast look rather painless. I feel for you. How did it happen and what type of damage did you get to the tyre? Rim ok? I now have a pot hole paranoia problem and avoid even the smallest blemishes in the road surface if I can. I still love...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

I picked up the car this afternoon with two new tyres replacing the damaged ones. Here is a photo of the damage on one of the tyres. I presume it's the left rear because that deflated the fastest and we couldn't see the damage on the other tyre. The great majority of people get in their...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

The last time I pumped them up to 43 PSI after a bit of driving, but they were only at 41 when this happened.

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

It did, straight after I swiped to check the tyre pressure. It all happened very quickly and within 10 seconds of hitting the pothole I was looking to pull over. After the low pressure warning the car was telling me to pull over too.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

My kids turned on Fart Mode while we were charging and I was outside. I tried "Turn off Fart Mode." It came up as poop mode or something like that and changed the air con to take in fresh air rather than recirculate!

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

It did give a pretty loud thump for each tyre, but I didn't think it was that bad. I just checked the tyre pressure out of caution given that I was weary with low profile tyres after seeing Engineering Explained get his rims damaged on a freeway pothole. It was hard to see at night, with the...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

I called Tesla this morning to find out what was happening. Rather than going all the way to Brisbane they said they could get it sent to Bob Jane T-Marts at Southport who have the same tyres and that other Tesla owners have used them before. I thought that was fair enough, as long as they do...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

The rain has been intense on the Gold Coast over the last few days and the roads have suffered with potholes opening up all over the place. I was on my way home from my parents in Helensvale on the Gold Coast and hit a pothole with both left tyres at less than 60 km/h. It was bad enough that I...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

If it's the spot I'm thinking about then I believe it shows that you are on the slip road to the left on the map and reduces the speed limit for that road. It freaked me out when it happened the first time I was driving down to the airport. I've had that same scenario, where it thinks it's on...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Interesting note about needing WiFi to activate the update process... I don't have WiFi that my car can easily access because it's parked in an underground car park in an apartment complex. I don't have the internet on yet either (NBN coming tomorrow). Anyway, I have received notifications of...

How good are Tesla’s in Australia’s extreme heat?

I haven't figured it out either. If it's 30+, according to the car, and the sun is directly above the car then I really feel the heat from the roof. The best solution I've found, as someone else suggested, is blast it down and at me with the fan on 8+. Unfortunately that's really loud.

Wailing wall for Australian Model 3 team VINLess!

My dad is picking up my car in Brisbane tomorrow and I asked on Monday if I could get the plate numbers to pre-register with the apartment complex where I'm moving to on Saturday. I was told that they couldn't provide the registration details until the day of delivery.

    Insurance quotes for Australian M3?

Do you have finance on it? Also, yours is SR+ and not P+, right? I'd imagine the Performance comes with a penalty, not only for being more expensive. I couldn't even do an online quote for it on multiple sites!
