    #FixPhantomBraking

The ultrasonics are not suitable for AEB. They are too short range and are really only useful at low speeds due to latency. Tesla used ultrasonics for blind spot monitoring before they started using cameras and it was really bad.

Shift gears while rolling no longer working on 10.3?

I noticed the same thing, I usually shift at a slight roll while backing into my driveway and ever since FSD Beta I haven't been able to do that. This was 10.2, 10.3, and 10.3.1. When I got rolled back to prod I did gain that behavior back for one day. I did find that odd.

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

That has been my experience as well. My neighborhood has unmarked streets and the car seems to try and drive down the exact center. It does move over when there is oncoming traffic but not as quickly as it should and it can spook the other driver. And these roads are curvy so sometimes you can't...

Who with a score of 100 and more than 100 miles is still waiting for FSD roll out?

I am still waiting, I had a score of 99 all week and made it 100 last night around 9 pm PST. I have not received an email or update.

I got to 100 tonight at 9 pm PST. I did not get any emails and my car is not downloading anything 😢

Post locations where you think FSD (beta or not) will fail spectacularly

I don't think it's really the street layout that makes Manhattan difficult. One way streets and grid layout shouldn't be a problem. It's more of the other traffic and pedestrians. FSD isn't very assertive and is very hesitant. Manhattan drivers and pedestrians don't really wait for anyone...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

That's good practice for non-FSD human drivers as well. That way if someone rear ends your car you aren't thrust into oncoming traffic. I've always been taught to keep the wheel straight until the turn is clear to avoid this scenario, instead of winding up the wheel while still waiting for the...

    Supercharger - Tustin, CA (LIVE 16 Nov 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Had lunch in this plaza yesterday and took some pics. Looks like a little bit of progress. Looks like trenching work is in progress and the cabinets look like a new addition from the last set of photos.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

It's where EPA range data should go. I guess either that data is not yet available or Tesla wants to keep the true range and efficiency numbers under wraps until Thursday 👀

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I spotted a Plaid Model S at Fremont, looked pretty dirty from presumably road testing. Managed to take a pic of the window sticker. Definitely looks like the screen is more flush and has lost the ability to tilt as previously speculated. Looks great, yoke there and all the trim pieces as well...

    Autopilot Questions

    1) No, only if you have FSD it will take the exit for you. If not, standard AP does not lane change or take exits/interchanges. Standard AP will only be a lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. With FSD you get Navigate on Autopilot which does the fancier auto lane changes and route...

Elon tweets "pure vision" will solve phantom braking

@verygreen had a snapshot from the AP unit of a phantom braking event which shows the radar returns from the overpass. Interestingly not a "high confidence" from radar but vehicle brakes nonetheless.

    Supercharger - Irvine, CA - Culver Drive (LIVE 17 Apr 2021, 16 V3 stalls)

Drove by again this afternoon and saw that SCE is closing off the lot again on 4/14. Looks like there might be more work to be done on the Supercharger before opening?

CNBC Tour of the Vegas Loop System

CNBC posted a video of a first look at the new Vegas Loop at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Interesting that they're using an app to call a vehicle, kind of like Lyft/Uber.

    Tesla Service Center - Irvine

Oh nice! I drove by yesterday and it looked pretty quiet. I could see a few cars parked near the back by the "Service" entrance sign. The front lot was empty though, so I was wondering if it was operational yet. Please let us know how it goes ;) I really hope this location has loaner vehicles...

    Supercharger - Irvine, CA - Culver Drive (LIVE 17 Apr 2021, 16 V3 stalls)

Swung by today to take some pics, everything looks ready to go and it looks ready for a transformer. There were signs all around the parking lot for 'No Parking' tomorrow from SCE on 4/6 so I'm thinking possible transformer install tomorrow?

    Tesla Service Center - Irvine

Thanks for the update, it looks like it's actually confirmed then. I can't change the title of the thread though 😅 I hope this is in addition to all the other service centers in the area and that the ones currently in place (Costa Mesa and Santa Ana) don't close. Appointments used to be 1-2...

    Tesla Service Center - Irvine

Drove by today and took some noticed the Tesla signage up so I stopped by to take some pictures. I think I can confirm this will be a service center based on the fact that there's a Service entrance on the right side of the building. There's also what appears to be a single Supercharging...

    Autonomous Car Progress

Elon spoke about HW4 / FSD Computer v2 on the call. Said it is not coming anytime soon. Will be 3x more powerful than the current FSD computer and will come along with higher resolution cameras in the AP hardware suite. But HW3 is plenty powerful enough right now and Tesla is confident that FSD...

V11 is going to be HUGE!

Just speculation but looking at the new Model S config page I noticed the onscreen UI seems very different. New media controls moved to the bottom right and HVAC controls on the bottom left. Also on the HVAC screen there is Air Quality AQI information on the very top. Also looks like a new IC...

    Autonomous Car Progress

I have a suspicion that this is not for Autopilot. It lines up with this filing with the FCC for a short range radar in the 57-71 GHz band for a short range mmWave interactive motion sensing device. In that FCC filing it says it would be integrated in passenger vehicle interiors to detect...

Did anyone come from bigger size sedan to Tesla Model 3?

I came from a Model S. Personally I don't miss the larger size, the only thing I miss is the hatch in the rear for loading bulkier items. The other thing is width, the Model S was wider for rear seat passengers enabling 3 abreast seating for adults. This is considerably more difficult in the...

V11 is going to be HUGE!

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Yeah, I remember in drivers ed they taught us not to trust other people's turn signals (or lack thereof). Too many people change lanes inside an intersection without signalling so I don't make right turns with approaching vehicles either. I would like the ability for the car to detect a turn...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Not sure about current FSD capabilities, but PlaidNet was spotted to have the capability to detect turn signals and brake lights on other vehicles. From just watching FSD Beta videos, it seems like it handles it similarly to NoA where the vehicle only yields once it has detected the vehicle...

    Tesla Service Center - Irvine

Looks like this location just got permits for 2 Superchargers and 6 non-superchargers EVSE stations. Still not sure what exactly they are building here but the addition of Superchargers could maybe indicate that it is a service facility? I know the Costa Mesa SC has a supercharger as well for...

    Firmware 2020.48.x

Yeah, I looked on other posts on TMC and others reported that after a failed update the software update was either re-pushed to their vehicle remotely or that they just received the next software update. The answer about a blocked update I got was from a tier 1 CS rep and I haven't heard of it...

    Firmware 2020.48.x

My update failed on my Model 3, and now the update disappeared. I asked if they could push the update again remotely and they said my car...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

I hope so, I would assume it would be a prerequisite to Reverse Summon/Park Seek which was said to be in the works. Camera based Driver monitoring

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Looks like @greentheonly found his way into the AP/FSD Dev UI and settings. Dev UI has a toggle for an FSD Default preset and a Production Default preset. I assume the FSD Defaults is what FSD Beta is running. There's a lot of settings, found a reference to "Selfie Driver Monitor", but it...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

Honestly I haven't been in a Tesla with a synthetic steering wheel for an extended period of time but I didn't notice or perceive any difference during when I test drove newer cars. But with your build date I think it's safe to assume your vehicle has a leather steering wheel.

V11 is going to be HUGE!

I think it depends on how FSD Beta goes, it could end up being another Smart Summon situation where it stays in early access for months. Elon even tweeted in April 2019 that Enhanced Summon would roll out to everyone with EAP/FSD next week, but it ended up rolling out in late September. If...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Looks like there's a new UI rolling out with v2020.40.8.12 And some tweets from Elon: @ElonMusk: This build should be noticeably better with interventions @ElonMusk: We measure this primarily in intervention probability. This update addressed several issues, resulting in perhaps ~1/3 fewer...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

On a side note, I can't wait until Andrej Karpathy or Elon does a presentation on the rewrite either at another Investor Autonomy Day or at a conference to get an insight into what exactly the rewrite entails. That should definitely clear up any definitions of what the rewrite is. Hopefully more...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

I mean to be fair to Green, I think he is simply pointing out that the rewrite is not what many assumed it would be. In all honesty, I also saw the PlaidNet leaks in firmware and thought the rewrite Elon was referring to was PlaidNet. Elon did say "fundamental architectural rewrite of AP" so I...
  49. DDotJ

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

Indeed, HydraNet has been around for a while. I believe what Green is saying is that this FSD Rewrite is putting together all the elements that have existed for a while now such as the BEV layer and HydraNet, not completely new NNs built from scratch such as the PlaidNet that was seen in...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

For sure, I appreciate that he shows the shortcomings of FSD and doesn't gloss over the flaws. At the 41:00 mark it looks like FSD has issues with cones either on the land boundary or in next lane over. It was on his other videos too, where the vehicle starts to swerve when it is driving next...
