Model 3 door opened by itself while driving

In a thrilling conclusion, the service advisor replaced the puddle light underneath the driver side door. I don't know if it's a 100% open and shut case, but apparently the puddle lights are the "end point" of the electronic circuit in the door, which connects the window, light, and door open...

Model 3 door opened by itself while driving

This occurred to me as well! Coincidentally I had a tech come out last month to inspect my passenger door which was always sticking in the open position. The driver side door didn’t have any issues at the time. In any case what makes me think this might not be the cause is that there was a...

Model 3 door opened by itself while driving

I was on the way to the store this morning driving in my 3 and about 60 seconds away from my home, the driver side door open mechanism triggered by itself! As if I had pressed the door open button, triggering the solenoid. However I had both my hands on the wheel. Luckily I was pulling up to a...

    MCU1 NHTSA Recall

Has anyone in Canada (specifically Ontario/GTA) heard from Tesla for scheduling the eMMC daughterboard replacements? I received the recall notice/update in March, but not a peep since. My 2016 S UI is VERY slow and would love to have that get solved. It feels like using an iPhone 3GS over the...

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

An update on this--I contacted Cyril in Innerkip and booked an appointment earlier this month, and I'd say he lives up to the high expectations that I had from reading up on others' experiences. It was worth taking the day off to drive to his shop (from GTA). He did an inspection and also...

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

I just chose tires & wheels, close enough. Besides I am fairly certain that someone on the other end reviews and classifies as required, they will at least judge if they can send a mobile ranger out first, and only have you go to a service center if absolutely necessary.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Estimate I got for brake service in Toronto (Lawrence) last week was $225 + HST. However after the vehicle was brought in, they wanted me to replace front calipers, pads, rotors, and rear rotors at a cost of $1900 o_O Last time I did the brake service was in 2019, a bit less than 2 years. I...

Another front suspension control arm failure

I am dealing with some suspension issues on my early 2016 MS and came across this thread. I don't know when they started producing the revised parts, but I can tell you that Tesla replaced these parts on my vehicle in June 2018 (car was just over 2 yrs old at this point). Looks like it was...

3rd party Tesla mechanic in GTA (Toronto)

I have some brake and suspension work that’s being recommended for my model S and would like some “second opinions”. Are there any reputable mechanics in GTA who specialize or work on Tesla vehicles?

    Power steering issue

Update: So the fix was indeed the same as many of the posters in this thread. The part is listed below, and was $280 CAD for the part and 45 mins labour @ $175/hr. Power steering issue

Just had this happen to my 2016 70D, 88,000kms. Steering feels very loose when turning at low speed, and will suddenly become tighter as I keep turning the wheel. Then have to manually pull the wheel back to centre whereas before it would straighten out by itself. Hope this doesn't hurt the...

    Car alarm during update

Alarm just went off 80% into the update on my AP1 70D. Unlocked the car and the IC said “software update required, please contact Tesla”. But about 5 mins later it rebooted itself and notified that it completed the update... Updated my 2018 Model 3 to the same version about 2 hours earlier...

Reduced price Autopilot & FSD for existing owners announced March 1st

TL;DR - I got the usual Tesla run around, no managers are approving price adjustments even if you have a support case, need to complain louder or be patient and wait for another sale. After a few weeks of phone calls and 2 visits to the service center (once for sales and once for service)...

Reduced price Autopilot & FSD for existing owners announced March 1st

Has anyone who tried buying AP/FSD during the March discount period and had technical issues, been able to complete the purchase after the end of the discount period? I tried to buy AP1 for my 2016 MS in March, but had issues doing so from My Account. Now that the website issue has been fixed...

Reduced price Autopilot & FSD for existing owners announced March 1st

Welp, it’s all good now. I went to confirm I was connected to WiFi and saw that I had the autopilot/autosteer options. I guess that software update that came the same day I paid for AP not only came with Sentry and dog mode but also had AP. Just writes that h didn’t receive any release notes or...

Has anyone who ordered Autopilot since last week (and received the note that they will receive the update within “3 days”) received their software update? I ordered on Monday and it’s been 4 days now, and I’m F5-ing constantly to check for the update. I also have not received any email...

    Replika R187 wheels causing issues..

For center cap removal, I ordered the action cup pullers from Amazon/China but it never arrived. Ended up using the suction cup (pic below) from a phone holder and it worked well! Just have to make sure the cap is clean. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/zcIAAOSw-RFaeT1c/s-l300.jpg

    Replika R187 wheels causing issues..

Looks like a good time to come across this thread. I have a 70D, delivered in March 2016 (AP1, pre-facelift). I purchased and installed R187 in November 2016, and use the lug nuts that come with the OEM 19" Tesla 5 spoke wheels. It was installed by SimplyTire (a fairly reputable GTA shop). I...

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

My order is in for the model 3 and planning to go through Tesla arranged financing. Is there anything out there better than the 4% tesla is offering? My secured LOC is at least 4% right now so leaning towards going with Tesla for convenience.

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

Sorry OP for your experience. What's done is done but I would keep pushing Tesla to try to make things right. I bought new, but still had pushback when my vehicle was damaged *twice* during service. Both times their initial reaction was "it couldn't have been us" but both times they ended up...

    Model 3 Canada

I had a Toyota that I drove until it was 11 years old and didn’t do any rust treatment and it was fine. Just washed it and kept it generally clean. I have seen and heard Mazda’s are not good with salt and rust. I don’t know if it’s still true but 6/10 of all rusted out cars I saw were Mazda’s...

    Model 3 Canada

Here's my $0.02 for RWD/AWD: it all depends on the front/rear weight distribution of the vehicle. You want the car to be as close to 50/50 for best results in winter (def recommend winter tires). Take a BMW 3 series coupe, which has about 50/50 weight distribution and decent traction control...

    Model 3 Canada

For Ontario, I am almost certain people will adjust their model 3 config based on availability and risk of the EV rebate. Myself and a colleague for instance preferred SR / SR AWD but are highly likely to switch to First Production since it may very well be 2019 before the SR hits Canadian soil.

Winter Tires and Rims - Canadian Availability

This is my 2nd winter season with Hakka R2's and while they were perfect during season 1 (2016-2017) even during a road trip to Quebec City during late Dec, they seem to be noticeably worse this 2nd season (2017-2018). This is just my subjective observation, since we definitely have had more...

Winter Tires and Rims - Canadian Availability

$100 for each TPMS is... a lot. I bought mine from Lawrence last October for $75 each plus tax which was cheaper than tire shops were charging. Center caps were $5 each. Lug nut caps were $4 each... didn’t buy those.

Lug Nut Cap Covers - 19" wheels - Where to buy?

I've purchased grey 19" replica wheels and want to buy matching lug nut caps (already got the center caps from Tesla). I'm in Canada so it's not really worthwhile to get the ones from TST as they'll run close to $100 CAD shipped and Tesla is charging $4 each ($80+tax total). Does anyone have...
