MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Almost 6% degradation in less than a year does not look average to me. Even my phone has less than that, and that is truly being abused. I was expecting 5% after 1 year but it loos twice as fast.

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Haven't wrote here in a while. I'm one of the unlucky when it comes to battery. When it was brand new in June 2021, my LR 2021 had 79.1kwh reported in SMT. Now, 8 months and 20.000 km later SMT is showing 74.6 KWh as nfp. To me this looks like on the far left of the degradation distribution for...

Good luck with this :) My LR is almost 6 months old and I have 16500 Km on it already.

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

In the 3 last cars, including the current Model 3 I used ceramic coatings for the windshield which makes the need of wipers kind-of redundant, especially at speeds above 50Km/h. At slow speeds I use manual controls every now and then. The ceramic coating is a life saver. I agree that the auto...

    2021.36 Audio not working correctly

off from the menu / on with the pedal is basically a "sleep" function, like it is happening in your PC. 2 thumbs buttons = reset/restart with wiping th eram and reinitializing the "media tablet", like in your PC.

    Dashcam

I mounted a Garmin dashcam 55 as well for the metrics that are embedded in the footage (time, speed and geographical position) and also for the speed cameras alerts (included in the camera as well). I'm using the 12V outlet in the central console with a stealth mounted cable that goes around the...

Model 3 Audio Flat Sounding From Rear Speakers?

I experienced loss of rear speakers, front bass speakers and the subwoofer. I tried the 2 buttons approach, I also let the car sleep - no improvement. I read that the rear amplifier takes care of all that stuff so I went ahead for a amplifier disconnect/reconnect - physically. It is actually...

    Tinting only side windows?

I only tinted the rear side windows. It's not for looks, but for comfort in the back (I travel a lot with the family).

Loss of Rear Speakers and Subwoofer?

Me again ... I managed to fix it (at least for now). I read on various forums that some tesla owners are getting their sound back after a deep sleep of the car. In deep sleep all these systems get disconnected so I thought maybe just unplugging the amplifier and plugging it back might address...

Loss of Rear Speakers and Subwoofer?

Today my bass, subwoofer and rear speakers have all gone south as well. There is a popping sound in the rear speakers and the sound comes and goes on them randomly and the entire "premium" audio system sounds like a small handheld radio. My car is merely 4 months old. I'll let it sleep for a...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Mine is a M3 LR , Q2 2021 - E3LD - so, with the Panasonic 82.1 Kwh pack ... but I guess not one from the top shelf :) Speaking of range, my real world usage on Swedish roads and highways (which are limited to 110-120 Km/h, meaning ~168-170 wh/Km - my average for the past 13000 Km) is giving me...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

I'm in the same boat. My pack degraded down to 76.5KWh within 3 months & 10.000 Km). Now it seems stable hovering around 76.5Kwh for the past month, currently at 13000 Km.

has anyone used the Garmin Tesla widget

No, you cannot configure anything. I was hoping for the same thing (to be able to open the trunk). No, just remote control of basic stuff (what you see on the snapshot).

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

I can charge daily but on a public charger. I live in an apartment building with an underground garage and I'm fighting the bureaucracy for the past 6 months straight to get a wall charger there, on my spot. Apparently I'll have my wish granted sometime in the near future but the procedures are...

Yes, I know that., thank you. Still I was concerned about premature degradation while using normally the car .. now I'm no longer concerned, that's all.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

10 days later ... after charging when dropping around 50+% till 80%, AC 11KW mixed with DC40KW , today I saw the NFP - 77.8Kwh, with full ideal range 568Km ... so things are recalibrating and the degradation seems to get in the average normal. Thank you all for the suggestions and good info. I...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

If I'd know why I can't control my OCD I'd probably be a millionaire by now :) As for the "normal thing" .. yes, degradation is normal and expected ... but not in 3 months, not by 5%. The thing that bugs me is not understanding why. I can live with a lower capacity battery, that is not the issue...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

I do not have my home charger installed yet in my garage (stupid bureaucracy - I live in an apartment building). I cannot afford to stay at 60% for the weekends. My typical charge cycle is to 80% and I'm using a local 50kw DC charger for that (0.7 C basically) and also I use an 11kw AC when time...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

On the same philosophy the original "downing" is also the bms. I'm aware these are just estimations and it's my OCD acting up.... but still I cannot go over the fact that the battery lost some capacity in only 3 months and less than 9k km.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

And I did that today, to my surprise the nominal max is now 76.8, up from 76.1. Not doing anything special, just charging 60-80% every 2-3 days.

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

That would be OK. Yes, but it was my bonus, my capacity ... and it is gone prematurely. I'll stop here ... this is going nowhere. I think you understood my point by now.

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

No my friend .. SMT is reading the BMS directly. That is the actual capacity of the battery. That is the actual loss. The rated range starts decreasing once the actual capacity goes below the 100% threshold capacity. So, yes, I lost 2% rated range, but I lost 5% from the battery capacity ...

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I completely agree to this. Still 76kWh compared to 80Kwh (after 2 months) is not 2% ... it is 5%. See my problem?

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Extremely high degradation in just few weeks of use. 3-5% in a year is fine, 6% in little over 2 months is bad. 16Km so far, in just 2 months. Brand new was showing 570 at 100% ... now it is showing 554 at 100% and that value is decreasing with 1 Km every few days, after almost every charging...

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

9 weeks is far from "first year" ... is not even first quarter. After 9 weeks was at 76.5 ... now, at 11 weeks old. 76.1 :( ... My cell phone has less degradation after a year than my car got after not even 3 months.

MASTER THREAD: Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

No, not wise at all. You will stress the hell out of the battery. Keep it 80-20 as much as comfortably possible. You say it is taking 20% round trip ... then keep it 60-80, or better yet, 40-60 daily. This applies, of course, to the scenario in which you have a charger at home and can...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

I thought that the car is showing the estimated distance till 0% is displayed on screen. From that point further you should have the "reserve" .. bottom buffer of 3.5 kwh. The tests performed so far (that I read about online) are showing that after the car shows 0% (and 0Km), you still have...

Thank you for your reply. To be honest, I could not care less about the actual NFP value. The car is a leasing that will be refreshed anyway in 3 years so, technically, no matter what I do, unless the car explodes or something, will not shred the battery into pieces ... it will still work fine...

Many thanks for the fast reply. I have not thought about this approach. Something to test apparently.
